Hi All,
I can certainly see the advantages of the feedback system, however there are a couple of reasons why we feel it is better for us not to have one.
First of all, I don't think it would solve the problem of non-paying buyers and general time-wasters as much as one would hope. For example, the vast majority of transfers cancelled due to payment not arriving are from 'buyers' who have never used Sedo before and have completely new accounts, therefore they wouldn't have a black mark against their name. Sure, they would get one from the unlucky seller once that transfer has been cancelled, but by then, we will have blocked them from bidding again anyway.
Secondly, the experience I have collected of being 'the man in the middle' of a buyer and seller has shown me that the black marks that would be thrown around would have a negative effect on our very good customers. I have had people who have never transferred a domain before wanting to sue the other party because the money left their bank on Tuesday morning and they didn't have the domain on Tuesday afternoon. I think a lot of you experienced, co-operative domainers who know exactly what you are doing and always do it promptly would end up with a lot of undeserved black marks on your names.
Feel free to contact me at any time to talk about this issue.
Regards,
Shaun
