I spotted this last night and thought it has potential. And as i quite often do i forgot to come back and punt a bid on it before it ended. Has this not got great potential?

Well, you could not use it to promote Formula One racing unless you had permission as F1 / Formula One is trademarked I believe.

I guess it could be used as a help site though, i.e. F1 key.

Well now that you mention it i think you are probably right, that somewhat limits the uses.

Perhaps could be used to sell F1 keys as i'm sure theres a huge demand for them.

I've got f-1.org.uk if you're interested. ;)

Would be very surprised if the term "F1" is trademarked.

Interesting. If I was starting an F1 / Formula One site, I'd still choose my own unique name though, just to avoid any potential hassle. A Nominet DRS could potentially take a different view from the Trademark people.

True you do run the risk, however I would have thought Nominet would have to abide by the legal principle. This isn't something I know much about, but this is what I would have thought.

As I understand it, the trade mark which Ben posted looks valid for all the classes it's currently registered under (which is a large amount and could limit the use of the domain somewhat).

Just because they don't have exclusive rights to use it for everything related to the sport, doesn't mean they aren't able to protect the classes under their registered trade mark.

This isn't an 'expert' legal opinion. ;)
