Why can't we compete? We're already outranking everyone outside of mvc and vc.co.uk for the main search phrases. Don't believe the hype, you can still compete in big niches if you know what you're doing.

Advanced Web Ranking - one of the few paid seo software packages I would highly recommend. It does a whole load other stuff too, check out their website. Absolute bargain for $200.

Where did the data come from??

Hitwise - MVC 16%, VC.co.uk 12%, DV.co.uk 7%
Companies House - MVC declared £4.5 million profit upto mid 2009 and they have seen no growth
Agencies - they tell me how we are doing
Network staff - see above
Me
Mark and Dunc.....admittedly they don't tell all the numbers.

The facts from all sources (see above) are no one is attacking the market like the three of us are. MVC is still the top but VC.co.uk are catching and we are the fastest grower. Almost everyone else is loosing market share including spendlessonline, promotionalcode.org.uk and everydaysale.

Stop thinking that all the traffic comes from Google and organic terms related to discount code terms.....there are lots of other things going on....and even hitwise does not show all things going on.

Having spent almost £2 million of my money on a project I would reckon I have access to lots more data than anyone. People can guess what they want all I was trying to show is that there are easier markets to play in, unless you have lots of resources.

Ps . Ironically all reports from agencies and networks I have seen or heard about are that VC sites overwrite other affiliate cookies by 8-12% which is the same as the number of cookies over written by all other affiliate channels, including cashback.

Doug, out of interest, what order do you see yourself, vc.co.uk and mvc being in if you look at traffic figures, say a year from now? I can see vc.co.uk catching mvc, but perhaps its going to take them 18-24 months from today to do it.

I reckon the following will happen:

VC.co.uk and MVC will take equal seo ranking, with a bit of luck we will pick up some selective money spots, but the rankings will become more fragmented with more sites, which will hit MVC's traffic.

Everyone will get killed in ppc as the merchants realised what MVC, VC.com and VC.co.uk have been doing. We don't play in the same game so I don't see that effecting us or most of the other sites.

Emails we are already way ahead of the others, we will all grow but I cant see the others catching us.

Partnerships.....we will all play more in this place assuming the deals work.

So traffic wise I think we will all start to be about the same, but MVC will be the most profitable, VC.co.uk will be next and if we make any profit then I will have done something wrong.......profit is not on my agenda for atleast at 12-24 months....if ever

Thanks - I'm taking a look at it but it looks like an absolute nightmare to operate!

You can grab the free trial and have a go. There are a million options, it looks a bit overwhelming at first but realistically you don't need to use most of them. I only run ranking reports and output them as html, don't touch anything else.

All you need to do is create a list of your keywords, you can do hundreds of them if you want. Then create a list of websites to track (this can be just your own, or dozens of competitors). Input those, and run the reports as often as you like. You can create fancy pdf's etc, but I don't bother. I just look at the overview like I posted, or I look at the actual rankings by url like this:
