Fair Play Sean,

It seems that you registered Gamblingadvice.co.uk even though 1and1 have given me confirmation this was registered to me!!!

I intend to seek compensation from 1and1 for this, however could you please informed me what time/date you registered this on. Obviously if you legitimately registered it prior to myself then there is not an issue.

Best Regards
Mark.

1and1 sounds like a online dating agency to me. I would say your more likely to catch an STD with 1and1 then a half decent domain ;)

Your right...

Yes - I am a newbie, but I guess we all gotta start somewhere.

I'm really p***ed about this!!! I got an email from 1and1 saying this had been registered to find out that DB had... erm registered it today!!!

Any ideas what can be done about this?

Hi Mark,

It's a common problem with crap registrars.

Their registration systems aren't as good as some of the catchers on here and it seems that they often just check the whois a minute later to see if the domain has been registered without checking who by.

Silly but so common.

In their terms and conditions if you can be bothered to even look, they'll have excluded their errors from any compensation claims.

Never mind, there's always gambling advice .mobi :D

No compensation

You're right ....no compensation for me (or the quoted figure of £100,000 from Ellis - but I'm sure he's winding me up).

I'm annoyed to find that I registered this early hours today (18/01/07) and received confirmation at 00:33 from 1and1 only to receive another email at 05:52 to say it was not registered!!

Mark.

As soon as I've tried to reg a name through a 3rd party I add it to my domain profile list in my domain checker and ping the WHOIS record until I see it regged to me.

Everyone should do this before you off to forums, or whatever talking about a domain that may not yet be yours!

Gotta make you feel sick though, i feel for you mate.:(

Admin is right, never post about a name until you have made sure it's yours, it's tempting when you find a good'n.

You live and learn, you wont do it again.

Did you plan to develop this name or were you just speculating like Sean;)

Yeah i feel a bit bad for you, the gentlemanly thing would have been to give you the heads up, especially as you are a newbie.
Don't stress, it's quite a nice name, nothing special though.
If you were going to develop, the org. is available & may be more suited if it's that sort of advice. Rather than the rules of poker lol
good luck
Pred

Thanks

I will take the advice onboard thanks. I guess you live and learn - no point moaning about split milk and all that.

Onwards and upwards to the next one.
Mark.

I thought I'd manually regd a three letter once, I soon recovered, over a short period of time you realise which are the s*** registrars, like pipex and which are the good ones.

Did Mark post the name before he reg'd it ?

I thought he saw it free, ordered it with 1&1 and they took so long they Sean reg'd it.

Anyway I was just joking in my post before ;)

most would assume its regged if someone has posted so fair play for doing a whois.

not sure on the circumstances but it is a nice name - and if it was free to register it still shows good .uk names are free to register.

That will be because they didnt actually try and register it until 05:52, 1&1 are shite, use ukreg or heartinternet instead who are almost instant.

i have been registering a few lately.....don't bother with reg-123 who sometimes take days and sometimes don't register the name at all. The mentioned 1&1 also take hours before the registration is completed.
For people like myself who pick up a few from the deleting website, you have got to have a quick registration to pick up any decent domains.

From advice on here i now use heart interent who seem to be very quick.
