Probably true. I assumed that boxerdog had already contacted him but I think he was talking about another domain.
By the way, I wasn't the first person to contact him to buy the domain. I'm sure a few people on here probably contacted him well before me anyway.
This is what I think, not that it really matters.
Putting myself in the domain owners place (assuming they know nothing about domains), if someone contacted me out of the blue and said I want to buy your domain and offered me X amount, Id be like "oh hello, this is obviously worth a bob" and no way would I sell it to them.. I would do a bit of research and probably end up putting it on Sedo.
No way would I sell it to someone without doing some research first.
So In my mind there is no point contacting people with a suspended domain because they will probably renew it and then look to sell it for the best price they can get (if that's what they want to do) and fair play to them.
But obviously, people aren't like me and will sell willy nilly.. I'm giving them too much credit lol.
I think it's more fun trying to catch domains anyway, not that I have have much chance, but still, the possibility is fun.
I can't really knock people for calling up owners if it's working for them, but I don't really like it either, because selfishly it ruins my (albeit slim) chances
