Competition - what does it take to compete with the masters?

I would expect to see average:
DAC SEND
DAC RECIEVE
to be around 4000µs (0.004s)

Thanks but was talking about the response from EPP. I suppose, thinking about it, it doesn't really matter as long as the CREATE is sent as soon as possible.

I throttle back the DAC to 5 per second for a 24hr run or 0.1 for a 5 minute burst every 10 minutes.

But on a good run I can get it to .42s it depends on so many other variables and if you are using script or compiled.

I am 1 hop from Nominet Border and Connected DIRECTLY into the Router that Peers with Nominet on a DEDICATED 1GBE connection.. even though Nominet are only on at 100mb.

MTR stats have me averaging at 0.3ms at the Nominet Border Router on LINX..

Even with ALL of that its still 60% Luck ;-)

Wow, that's pretty optimised then :) I don't know how many hops I am from Nominet. I've got a VS with http://www.goscomb.net/ as heard they are pretty close by.

What's the best names you've caught with that setup? (if you don't mind sharing that is)

Goscomb are at SOV so close but not as close as others.

To be honest only commissioned this server this morning so still running tests.. most of time spent is on software development.. Give me a couple days and will let you know.

So where is the best place to be? :)

I suppose it's a good place to be starting out, I just need to get some luck and try a few bursting tactics and hopefully hit the DAC at that sweet spot of 0.0000000001 after it drops :)

Without a stick to gauge it by it would simply be guess work.

The best way to learn is to make mistakes, the same is true in life as it is in dropcatching, there will be trips and falls along the way but once you figure it out its all worth it.

Learning from others teaches you their mistakes.. To truly master something you can only learn from your own.
Walking around a field full of landmines or the map of there locations probally better than making your own way through it ....;) Why make mistakes others have already made ?

well if its your competitors and enemies handing you the map, would you still trust it ;-)

Best to sit a nice safe Bunker with all those mines about :D

I'm optimising my script while I stay in the bunker. Soon I'll be firing the big guns!
