I have just completed the purchase of cheapdvds // co // uk

The seller want to keep the price confidential so I will stick by his wishes.

Any thoughts?

And I thought you were selling up?!

My first thoughts were that there would be too much competition from big companies to rank for the term, but I only recognised play.com on the first page of results, so I'm sure there's room there for you.

No idea on value really.

Just a few mate! Hopefully to make room for some better ones!

There are 2/3 quite big companies on there but hopefullt it wont be too difficult to get it ranking.

Any other thoughts?

Do you think that DVD has a long term future wrt blu ray etc?

I was thinking this the other day, is there anything lined up to supersede blu-ray? With DVD well established, I think there are still a lot of people buying them, which may slow blu-ray's adoption enough for the next big thing to come along and stomp on it? I've no idea really, just speculation.

IMO bluray will never replace DVD, it might take a bit more of the market in coming years however, i can't see it replacing it completely.

I don't think so either, what I do think though is that digital download will replace it, I think DVD will still dominate in the next 5 years, though people are less willing to pay so much for them so I would expect revenue to go down.

Interesting pov.

I only asked as I've not either bought or rented a DVD since I got a blu ray player last year - I get blu-rays sent through the post via Lovefilm now and now find it hard to enjoy watching a film on DVD on a large HD panel (due to the poor picture quality of DVD), but I've no idea if I'm in the minority or not with this.

The problem at the moment is blu-ray's tend to be £6-£10 more than the equivalent DVD, pretty much like it was between DVD and VHS initially. The difference of course with DVD vs VHS was obvious, but to be honest, I can't see a big enough difference between DVD and blu-ray to justify the extra cash most of the time.

I do tend to rent blu-rays though as they cost the same as DVD's.

Adoption rates would increase IMHO should the difference in price be reduced or eliminated. I can also see blu-ray adoption increasing with 3D, if it's not just a load of hype and we don't have to sit there wearing stupid glasses from the 80's.

Only problem I see with "cheapXXX" is exactly that, it's "cheap". Consumers searching for cheap products are so price sensitive that if it costs a few pence more than somewhere else, you don't get the sale, plus from an affiliate perspective, commissions I would have thought are going to be pence, which means (depending on what you paid) you need volume in a highly competive market with well established brands to get a decent ROI.

Just my 2p worth...

Are you looking to develop or sell on?

I inquired this domain from previous owner some time ago and gave it a miss. You need a lot of link building and seo effort to make it on the first page.

If you ever want to sell it for some reason let me know.

Can't really see much past reg-fee for me.

You will have to do shed loads of work to make it make a return, if indeed it makes one at all.

Aren't all DVDs cheap now? I haven't bought one for about 5 years and i guess I never will again.

:(

not many searches, people kind of expect dvds to be cheap nowadays, and the very small commission on these said cheap dvds means i'd probs value it at low £xxx
