Paul, did you buy it or catch it....I hope you didn't buy it???

If you did buy it you won't get your money back so you'd better sell me that special domain name you have....you know the one...the one that needs a friend...remember guinea pigs should be kept in twooooos

I couldn't agree more but I think they would have a much better life here ;)

I don’t think you’ve done too bad, having said that I don’t think it would be my first choice to spend £12k+ on. But if you have a firm idea for a site and have the time and money to put into action it obviously has the potential to earn good money within a hugely competitive field.

I’ll be very interested to see what you do with it. It wouldn’t be too difficult to have a slicker site than charity choice, with a few more life style/sector/priority choices and greater detail on each charity for easier comparison.

Looking at their site they have 34 charity categories, to top the results within each category costs up to £1000 alone, each banner is £350 (i counted over 100 in the first 2 categories alone before giving up) that’s without all the lower levels of enhancement starting at £75, you can do the math on that lot.

Good luck with it

Pete

Very nice domain imo.

If the charities are spend money for affiliate advertising then why should you give a second thought about taking it? There are people selling debt related domains, are they having twangs of guilt?

Why? Are you being serious?

Tons of charity affiliate programs, so should be easy to monetize. At the end of the day, they want donations enough to set up and maintain affiliate programs, so they must be "satisfied" with the remainder they get after paying out affiliate commissions. It's better to get 80% (or whatever) of a large amount than 100% of a teeny tiny amount.

After all, there are thousands (millions? if you look across the whole world) of charities out there, all competing for donations. It's probably one of the largest and most competitive "industries" out there...

For instance (in the US) "Charities employed 9.4 million paid workers and engaged the equivalent of 4.7 million fulltime volunteers (calculated by dividing the number of hours volunteered by the hours in a typical work year). Together, those workers represented 10.5 percent of the total American work force. The paid employees outnumbered those working for the utilities (800,000),wholesale trade (5.6 million), or construction (7.1 million) industries"

It's blinkered to ignore the business side of things completely and focus only on the "doing good" side of things - the two go together in lockstep!

Is this an AD Exclusive party?;)

I will step out of this one, my feelings on making money on the back of a charity are now known.

Best of luck with it.
