Hi Chaps, I've made a few changes to the website and was hoping you could take a look let me know if it's going in the right direction.

Mainly images, colour schemes, layouts, adsense integration in threads, welcome headers and the usual mods... is the layout working or the css messing up on your browser/OS? Are the ads annoying?

This is the London Student Homepage now
This is what it looked like before

This is how the inside of the student forums looks now. The google adverts in the threads look different to registered users than they do to forum guests.

(I don't have a link to how this all looked before but some of you may remember)

Thanks for any help

Anyone?

The css is the main thing that worries me - even though my last site validated and I thought I safely used css - it looked completely different on a PC (I'd built it on a mac!) so would be nice if I could get the nod that the site is fine across platforms.

I was also wondering what people's CTR generally are with adsense. Especially those with student related sites or forums.

At the moment I'm only getting less than 0.4% - 1% CTR is that about normal?

Thanks

Going by the front page only, I prefer the old look, neater, brighter, tidier.

That said it looks like a site that could really benefit from a Joomla Template to me - rockettheme.com for examples.

Thanks firestars. To be honest I got sick of the green, and the blue was a bit fresher. I'll take a look at Joomla

Another thing was that Now the homepage matches the forum pages (same header); before there was such a contrast.

Here's a question- Do you think that for SEO it's better that forums (like vbulletin) should be in the root directory - or is it fine 1 step in.

For example, Acorn goes straight to the forums. Mine hit the homepage, then you click for forums. This is something that I changed over about a year ago (based on advice). My homepage is now PR4, forums PR3. But this is probably a result of links etc, and not necessarily content.
