I have a custom built C++ source or executable for sale / hire / whatever - open to options....

It runs on a 32 or 64bit linux host (I can advise of a host that's 0.29ms from nominet if we can strike up a deal)

Here are the headlines;

- Runs on 4 threads

- Selects the domain to catch based on a file (so you can schedule catching with cron)

- Polling rates can be changed in the source code

- Calculates the time taken to initiate a check > response so you can test how fast different hosts are

- Is stripped right down to be as fast as possible - notifications and catch status are controlled from an accompanying bash script.

- Has basic documentation

Open to offers / discussions on any interesting ideas....

Does it know what time things will drop like Denys :D
I may be interested let me know what your pricing would be

Who wrote it, do you have permission to sell etc?

I own the code.. I commissioned a freelancer to implement it for me.

I'm really open to discussions at the moment... If you have any ideas then send me a message across.

I could sell to a defined number of people

I could sell to one person

I could work on a JV basis with another catcher to develop the mother of all scripts..

As I say - open to ideas..

I would like to know ballpark if you will, pm me. It maybe exactly what my client is looking for, totally over my head but hes looking for new revenue stream.

You probably already know - but you can't just sell a something a freelancer made for you. The programmer still owns the intellectual property for that code, unless you've got permission. I would like to see proof of this p permission before I pass contact details on.

Thanks

What are you basing that on?

Any of the freelance stuff I've used, the complete ownership of it has passed to me when I paid for it so I could give it away, sell it, or do whatever I wanted with it...

It really won't be a problem, the only copy of this source & app is on my server (with a backup of course).

I stipulated in the contract terms that I would own the copyright / and distribution rights..

I've made further modifications post the main contact anyway and I'm adding more all the time.

Bursting will be next on my list..

OK - I've now enabled bursting via a command line switch...

I'll probably post a video showing it's function in the next couple of days or so.

As said to a couple of people on PMs the price is as follows;

Executable built for your tag: £400

Source code license (no distributorship rights): £1000

thanks....

Hi Posh,

I've just pm'ed you.

@Monkey If you use a freelancer and its stipulated in the contract that you own all the rights then that's fine. Usually intellectual property (IP) is retained by the creator, no matter if you've paid them. For example if I create a website for a client using a bespoke CMS (that's taken me 2-3 years to develop) and then he hires another developer to strip out my CMS. Now imagine he starts selling/distributing my CMS ,is that fair? That's why IP is retained, by law to protect the creator of the idea, code, method, designer, whatever etc......... unless stipulated.

Andrew Clarke talks about it in a recent podcast http://unfinished.bz/40 i think its around 30 mins in. Theres also quite a lot online.

Sorry for hijacking your thread POSH
