Catching a .co.uk domain?

Just didn't want anyone thinking I'm pulling a 'sock puppet' trick as most of the thread is about my service or people using it :p

LOL nope, it's a totally separate request I just thought their post with list of catchers was useful and thus quoted it in my reply!

You looking to catch a name too? Your postings don't appear in quotes, so no way of knowing you were quoting someone. I had to go back to quote geebee as I wasn't sure what your username was doing posting like you were geebee.

Yes I'm trying to catch a name too - I don't quite understand how that makes me 'posting like I was geebee'. In my first post in the thread I quoted them (#16 - https://www.acorndomains.co.uk/threads/catching-a-co-uk-domain.152951/#post-587170) as it seemed logical to follow on from their post to ask my question, as it was about sites that were listed in their post. You appear to be looking for some sort of conspiracy where there isn't one. I just registered to ask a simple question and had some very helpful replies.

No he's not, it's just if you read the thread, without looking at usernames, it reads like you are the OP.

Instead of writing "I am also looking to catch a domain" or "this list is also helpful for me" you just wrote "Thanks for this list- when going through it though I noticed a large number of them appear to be identical, just with different prices - " which made it read like the OP replying - even more so as OP stopped replying at the same time.

Easy misunderstanding.

I can understand the problem a bit better if for some reason you don't read the usernames, although I don't quite know why I'd thank myself if I was quoting my own post! Anyway as long as people are happy I am myself and not someone else then all good.

I didn't think there was a conspiracy. I noticed the difference in usernames only when I wanted to offer a manual catch and wasn't sure which of the two usernames to quote/address, you see. I ended up quoting geebee as he was the original poster. I thought @geebee had been unable to login with his details for whatever reason and had created a new account as @metaphase and carried on the convo. Not unusual on some forums where users can't reset/retrieve passwords.

Now that you have clarified @geebee is not @metaphase, please let me offer you my manual catch service. ;) Only 120 GBP once domain is caught!

This is quite funny to look back on!

@metaphase was so smooth with the continuation of the conversation - no wonder people were confused!!!

Is it worth looking at Snapnames.com and Dropcatch.com for .co.uk / .uk domains too?

I've read dodgy stories about both of them shafting people so I don't know if I should trust them? Using recommended domain catchers in the UK to catch UK domains makes total sense though.

Pleased to report back that I was successful with my domain catch! I don't support by any chance eCatch are a forum member on here? I've dropped them an email on Friday re the invoicing but haven't heard back (although I know it's a Bank Holiday in England so guess that might have an impact?)
