Can I make a living from websites?

I agree Edwin that such a questionnaire will not answer the complicated issues of how to make money in affiliate marketing. It will however give some indication as to how much people do make from AM online, the sector that they are in, the type of sites that they run (5 page minisites, big blog-type sites, price comparison sites).

Overall, it will give inspiration to 'newbies' to this arena and set a benchmark as to what can be achieved.

Questionnaire or no questionnaire, yes you can make a living.

The best results in my experience come from concentrating on ONE site. The big boys have one key site, they then use the spoils and page rank to leverage new successful sites off the back. The likes of dougs, keiron etc have done this well - i'd follow their lead. Remember if you can't make just one site work, how the hell can you make 20 or 50 sites work. Google is the master, and is not stupid. (for 2010 I will be following this lead)

Excellent advice - I have over 30 sites, but one brings over 50% of traffic.

Yes have one site, but many on here roll out multiple minisites with a few pages of text and make decent adsense etc. others do the same with affiliate or amazon.

This is purely a voyeuristic look and not a tutorial.

perhaps I can add a tip too to help you. get into what you are doing early, before the majority of people do and it becomes overcompetitive and profits drop.

I would cite finance lead gen 2004-2006 and keyword domains 2007-2008 as examples of how you can make big money by getting into what works early enough.

i did very well in lead gen but I have missed most of the good keyword domains by getting into it later than I should have.
