I've used zencart before, was relatively easy to set up, administer and use and fine for paypal payments but I did run into problems trying to integrate with Barclays Merchant payment gateway.

Also had a play with oscommerce but never used it live. Again pretty easy to set up.

I thought Magento was called Magneto, no wonder nothing came up when I googled it

Could anyone recommend a very lightweight and simple script for a small site?

e-junkie.com is worth a look if it's a small site and you like the idea of someone else managing it all for you (which I like very much!). Free trial for a week, then $5 per month for the basic account

Cheers, Jon

I'm currently building two shops in Magento, for me quite a large learning curve, but have found the Magento forum a great help.

Both sites are hosted with NuBlue Web Solutions, installation included, and very helpful on the phone..

Can be difficult to find certain files, even with Firebug, but this post solved all of that Magento - i cant find main html - HTML, XHTML, CSS, Design Questions - eCommerce Software for Growth

As already mentioned it can be a bit slow to load, currently trying to finish New Railway Sleeper Site, yes, that's what I do, sell sleepers for a living :)

Kick back up.

Paul, how did this go ? I'm just doing to magento stuff and remembered this :)

I missed it first time round. :)

I like X-Cart used it for my main business for over 4 years. Very solid and reliable. No hiccups or hacks in the 4 years.

hi skinner.

i tried them all and they all seemed good but i think magento was the best on imho but it has a heavy backend for first timers but once you can get around it it has some good powers. i havent fully sussed it yet tbh but i do hope over the coming months i can.

Here to help with Magento if anybody gets stuck, not an expert, but just spent a good couple of months working on it.

i cant vote im too new but id say zencart due to its functions and easy of use which makes it ideal for clients.
