You may be interested to read the following article where Nora Nanayakkara comments on the highest domain sale this year of Toys.com for $5m

BBC NEWS | Technology | ToysRUs pays $5m for toys domain

Sedo’s media relations is just one of the ways in which we work to bring in potential end-user buyers by educating the public on the value of direct navigation traffic .

This statement is quite alarming:

UK domain name seller Sedo said it had seen prices halved for .co.uk domain names since the economic downturn started to take hold

Indeed, somewhat irresponsible without figures to back it up, especially when sedo are only a proportion of sales.

Ask the BBC to correct the article, from prior experience they do so if you ask with a basis :)

Good to see the article. I think they did the right thing buying this for their business. The toys.com domain isn't resolving for me yet though.

I just had a conversation with a non-domain related person who had read the article and asked if I was concerned :)

Interested to know the source of the data of .co.uk halving and if a correction will be requested?

Does this mean Domcollect will be halving its prices?

Yep I think certain stories can be taken out of context and probably just another of someone writing an article without doing the correct research.
