Not so long ago, I sold a domain on DL for about 250GBP. I waited a couple of days before contacting the buyer and heard nothing. I then, tried again - still nothing. I tried again, this time copied in the owner of DL..still nothing (from both)...

I then forgot about it and got an automated email from DL reminding me to complete the transfer. I resent this to the buyer - who finally replied and simply wrote this:

Hi,

Our client has not paid the invoices yet unfortunately for the domains he asked us to bid on.

Is there anything I can do?

Is there anything I can do?

No just move on that happens on DL and everywhere

Do you want to name the buyer's handle or real name, or was it just a user number? I figure if certain people just bale out (which is disrespectful) then it's maybe useful for other people to be aware of them. I agree it should be addressed as people who bid then bale out should be kicked.

You can point out to them that their relationship with their client has nothing to do with the legally binding contract they entered into with you, and remind them that non payers risk being banned from DL and hence unable to purchase domains in future.

Beyond that though, not much that's worth chasing unless the domain went for more than you could relist it for.

This story has a weirdly good ending..I re listed the same domain and it sold for over 3 x what it originally went for....And the buyer was chasing me first thing this morning..

Result..../ Luck.

Nice one, if I buy I domain I always want to pay quickly as well. I think it's courtesy to be prompt. If it is an auction I am literally waiting for the successful email to come so I can sort out payment. I reckon most here would be like that as well. I think it helps build a reputation that you're a good buyer and respect is a 2 way street.
