Hi,

I took your advice, Accelerator, and have gone with something more specific.

Is this one any good ?

Cheers,

Steve.

Televisions at trade prices ?

I've done it again haven't I ? Not keyword specfic !

I suppose looking at it it reads like 'swap your tv !'. I also got prmanual.com.

I'll learn in time !

Thanks for looking over my domains for me. Will learn more before wading in again I think.

Cheers,

Steve.

This doesn't qualify as a valuable domain because it is not a searched for term, or one on which PPC advertisers bid highly.

However, it does have brandability and memorability going for it, but then you have to wait until someone else takes a shine to your domain to make the sale. This means it's value is difficult to quantify, but value could be there if you get lucky.

In the meantime, it is very suitable for an affiliate site if you feel like making one.

Thanks for that Accelerator.

I did pick up a load of keyword specific sites which I'm going to keep for the long term and build sites for -babyclothes,actionfigures,outdoortoys,babybaths,babyseats,mensaccessories,celebritynews and so on in .org.uks. My plan is to build a fulltime affiliate business.

I got a bit distracted from this when I saw some of the huge prices domains were selling for on your sold section and thought I'd have a speculate. I can see now it takes some research to hit big keyword domains in .coms.

Although I've dived in with both feet it's been alot of fun ! (if not costly!).

Thanks again for looking over my domains.

Hopefully in time I'll be able to offer input to newbies.

Cheers,

Steve :)

All the below are pretty good domains:

babyclothes
outdoortoys
celebritynews

Yeah, I liked outdoortoys too, as the phrase gets 60,000+ exact matches per month.

Re.sunnier, Would you actually approach, say estate agents, with a speculative email ? Perhaps a successful agent with a boring domain name !

Does this approach work ? I saw sunny.co.uk went for 9k but I can't see a site anywhere. I suppse like you say, it just needs the right people who want the brand. But maybe I need to look for them and promote it.

Thanks,

Steve.

The problem is it can take a long time to find someone interested in the brandability, as no-one is likely to be thinking of a sunnier brand right now.

You have to decide whether you want to sell to an end user (lots of work, finding, promoting, etc etc) or to a fellow domainer developer (quicker, easier, but lower sale value).

Ultimately any marketing you do is going to help but probably won't generate immediate pay-off.

Otherwise, promote it as much as you can to fellow developer/domainers, e.g. here and affiliates4u.com etc etc. If you use Sedo, you can set a min offer price, then once you've accepted that min offer you can use it as a reserve in an auction - you've sold the domain at min offer, but you can then try and realise further value through auction.

Yes, I see what your saying regarding brand promotion. They're probably having a hard enough time at the moment without some smarmy kid turning up with an expensive word to sell !

RE. Sedo, for a reasonably quick turnaround would you always suggest setting a minimum price to encourage a bid ? With regards to pricing, my gut feeling is it's similar to ebay - the starting price should have little relevance to the finishing price if you want to encourage a bid, as it will find a truer value at auction. Would this be correct ? So, say for sunnier, I'd have a starting price of £75. The risk of course beind it sells for £75 !

Cheers,

Steve.

I'm not sure that the minimum bid allowed is shown to the user before they actually make their bid, so it won't help attract bidders.

If you want to make a fast sale then one way is deciding what you want for the domain and then setting a fixed price on the domain at Sedo. I'm not saying this is necessarily the highest profit strategy, but it might help you get a few quick sales to get you underway.
