Hello all!

What do you think of this one?

Gems4u.co.uk

TIA!

shocker - not worth the reg fee.

Here are a few more you will need to get to avoid confusion with your branding:

gemsforyou.co.uk
gemsforu.co.uk

Personally i would save the 10GBP, as these domains like your one are also worthless.

Domains with "2" or "4" are confusing and though they work in a very few cases, the majority of the time they dont. Unless you are selling an entire set of "to" and "for domains forget it.

You have added a second even worse abbreviation "u" to add twice the confusion to the domain name. Imagine someone picking up the phone and asking you to spell your email address:

i d i o t a t g e m s four, no the number four,
you, no not you, just you, without the y and the o.

This combined with the word "gems", who calls them that? Is it rock gems? or gems as in gems of information.

Who even buys "gems"? I think your target audience is very limited. If it is the rock kind of gems i would imagine that most people in this business have enough money not to want some cheapo looking domain.

Better luck next time!

gems4u

Hi,
must admit i don't really reg these ones myself but feel the person before me didn't really give a fair appraisal. very longwinded etc though.
although there is a problem with some domains & reciting over the phone, this domain isn't too bad.
everyone knows the more successful domains in this genre, everyone spells 4u. alot of it is down to the texting craze we all live in.
1 minute on google shows this.....
phones4u, hottubs4u,insurance4u etc
also i know from ebay, lots of people deal in & collect gemstones. not just on ebay all over. it's a big market & the generic bracket is.....gems
i'm sure it only cost you a fiver for 2 years, i wouldn't reg. too many more tho' ! :-D
why not search out gem traders with longwinded names, or even ebay sellers that just have ebay stores & hotmail addresses. this might appeal. it won't make you rich but you may well get £75 - £125 for it
cheers, Predator

Hey thanks for your insight and opinions!

I liked it because it was so short and was subconciously carried by the phones4u advert on tv at the time!

I can't remember how many £5's i've spent on what sounds good at the time but I guess i'm not the only one :)

cheers!

Phones is high volume high value sales currently - not many people on oxford street are out to buy "gems"

Gems just dont have that gimick/gadget marketting apeal so you might be pushing the wrong type of image with gems4u

mayfairgems.co.uk = would be more appropriate maybe :)

Newbie

Loads of names have the 4u angle...

Two channels on cable are dedicated to selling Gems4others ;) 24/7

Take heart...

May well be something in it for you along the way...

Excellent feedback, I learn more everyday... There's always more angles... And at £5 every two years sometimes it works out that the speculation is worth it :)

BTW it actually gets a little traffic at a rate of about $1 per month, so in effect it earns much more interest than my Barlcays account :)
