Indeed... although maybe they just panned out the renewal as long as possible for cash flow reasons. Dunno.

Still some left suspended. But yep looks like they are keeping them.

seems they have renewed quite a few of them as per my domain tracker this morning.

Oh well, that frees up a few credits with Dropcatcher then!...

Yep all the ones on my list are getting renewed :(

I bet they read this forum and couldn't bear the thought of one of their expired domains being sold on. Must have some cash behind them to renew all of that lot!

End of thread, please...

Sorry to have caused such a long thread of speculation on this forum.
I was amazed that you guys were so switched on to what I am up to.
Yes - I am renewing my domain names. Mostly ...

If you want to read more about me and ANY-Web Ltd. read my post as a newbie of yesterday.

If anyone is interested in a bunch of about 1000 obscure and unpronounceable geographical domain names (mostly Scotland and Wales) then get in touch. It is a £5K investment now, but I may be in a position to buy them back one of these fine days...

Best wishes

Hi Angie!

I'm after one particular town name that you have registered if you willing to sell.

Ta.

Any-Web is broken

Does anyone know why most of the Any-Web domains have been offline for so long? For example the domain http://www.oakleygreen.co.uk/ has the following error:
INSERT INTO TA_LOGFILE (Log_Origin, Log_ServerVariables, SV_Remote_Addr, SV_HTTP_Accept_Language) VALUES ('WWW.OAKLEYGREEN.CO.UK',' ', '12.345.678.901', 'en-gb,en;q=0.7,en-us;q=0.3')

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e57'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]String or binary data would be truncated.

/Default.asp, line 85
They don't have a comment on their main site why this is happening and the Nominet records show the renewal for this domain is being processed. Are they in trouble?

They renew all the domains last minute. Ive offered to buy one and been ignored. I dont know why alot of them come up as error. It seems to be the really small villages.

They do it mostly to annoy domainers.

Oddly a few weeks ago I was asked about registering the .gov.uk for the village I live in, for the parish council. I discovered that the .co.uk and .com were free to reg. The village isn't that small (pop. ~2500).

Ive bought a few geo names off ANY-web (ouch ) my wallet is still smoking now) seem very nice people.

but indeed Colin i also picked a few up free to reg also that maybe they missed..

I haven't dealt with them directly but I helped someone else acquire a domain from them a few years ago (when David "Samsonite" Brayshaw was working there...) and I must say that they were very polite/helpful and the pricing was most reasonable as far as we were concerned.

:D

Now that would be a shame.

Their sites are a joke. They hold 20+ names that I know of for villages that have no more that 20 houses in them and with the rest they do f*ck all with them. They really are doing domainers no favours at all.

Domains respond but only with a broken script

Last minute renewals aside, why would they have a broken script left unattended on so many domains? The domains are pending renewal, not suspended so they are still operational. Perhaps it is an indicator that the affected names are due to be dropped, or that Nominet's invoice is still pending payment.

I was hoping the one I was after would drop but they renewed it last second and now it just sits pointed at a broken script like you say. They wont sell it either which is annoying.

Have they said why they won't sell it or have they just said "no"? I'm just curious, that's all - as they have to fund their massive renewals bill from somewhere! I bet Nominet sends Angie a turkey every Christmas* :)

* insert your favorite David B joke here...

I enquired a few times with no reply...

Try sending 'em a letter - you never know, they might not be reading emails if they're letting the sites fall to pieces.
