auction

Lets face it if you have an auction at sedo or a domain name event you are not going to get end user prices cause it ain't for end users!!!

If you want to realise a value in a domain name and need to sell immediately then thats what auctions are for....90% of property auctions are full of property investor paying at under market value....they pay low price cause they pay quick.....I don't see why sellers think they can get market value!!

Any way....I have a solution and should be able to uplift values by 50% but will want a 20% commission on values

Some sense :)

The latter is interesting and always good to see potential broker doing more and happy to charge more as well as people do pay for results.

Cheers,
Rob.

all too expensive to broker or auction...

all need developing then selling...

decorating should go to the UK chain B&Q / diy.com (hint!) :-D

expense

I think 'too expensive' is the wrong term as no money is expended.

AND it truly depends on your business model....

if you can buy for £100 and sell for £1000's and then the £1000's allow you to buy 1000's of the £100's then the cumulative can be far greater than the develop and sell model.

Unless you intend to create a fully blown business before selling on I don't see the benefit....you will need to explain to me what specifically you would develop that would uplift value as i don't see it...

sorry... could be wrong "term" Lee... how about "Out of the Ball Park on a price anywhere near what they are worth!"

development on 2 of the names is really only way forward to build value...

e.g 22,644 registered "decorators" in UK... portal for all of them, with ability to purchase, one, some or all of the below...

[email protected]
[email protected]

their very own "mini portal" showcasing their skills etc

the chance to be "approved" by decorating.co.uk and get a nice badge / certificate to prove they are good at the work etc

a "tips" page... sponsored by one of the 564,000 UK diy / self build / refurb / diy companies and manufacturers etc

a newsletter sent out with "a link" to the general public promoting various specials like, replaster your whole home for $ or let us paint one room and get the other free etc

the same could be "concepted" on surfing.co.uk ;)

so lots of ways to get the $ instantly for the investors / buyers (at a lower price!) all of the above far outway ANY parking crap... just 5 residue affiliate links could bring in $xx,xxx :-D

thoughts?

indeed

indeed mxm....effort will create results. I personally think buying domain names is one of the most uplifting businesses around...you buy at £5 with a few minutes effort and sell at £10 or more with a few more minutes effort

Relatively the industry has not moved off this phase cause its too lucrative

For the record I am buying for sole use as I have a specific vision (i don't trade)

There's no doubt a good few of us would have bid higher than the amounts reached, there are a few on there I would have happily bid higher amounts on but the reserve range put me off bidding in the first place so I don't think they reached even true reseller market for the most part.

I relatively pointless exercise IMO
Absolutely. Engineer.co.uk sold for £3,500? Would have preferred the plural but there's a ton of money in engineering recruitment. Just look at its parking page. That's a steal and a candidate for immediate development if ever I saw one. I need to start watching these auctions.

Christ, i didn't see that. How did it go for that?
You'd want the reserve at 10 times that!
