When is the adult section going to be propery fixed?

It receives ZERO exposure. You have to go to rediculious lenghts to sign up. But if you don't know to sign up you will never know it's there
So all visitors to this forum completely miss it. !!!!

Then we have admin and others telling people off for posting in the wrong section! They are posting their adult names in the general section as they do not know an adult section exists! because they can't see the adult section

And when admin/mods are moving threads, are they PMing the authors to tell them where their thread has gone and how to sign up to see it?

If a fix is a long way off in coming, can we go back to the way it was, as then at least they do receive exposure.

How do the other domain forums manage to do it?

.

.99% of people visiting forum are over 18 i would imagine anyway.
have an adult section where it is & when entering you have to click a page that says, adult content within, are you over 18? just click yes, & in you go.that covers everyone for appraisals & sales etc
its a failsafe way of doing it, like porn sites do, allegedly

as it is, pointless having a section i agree. ott

I have made is visible to registered members only, guests will not be able to see it.

Anyone know how to hide the "last post" on a single forum in VB?

I found how to do it for the whole Index page but I just want to do it for the Adult forum.

Would be nice if we could opt out and not have to see them

Can't you just do it in the same way as the exclusive section is set up?

If I'm not logged in*, I see a bar saying:

Exclusive Members
A private forum for Exclusive Members. A paid subscription to Acorn Domains is required to access this area.

Surely you could duplicate this for an Adult section and have instructions on how to access it on that bar?

* if I'm logged in this disappears

The problem is that people do not want users to have to sign up to a specific group to see the Adult section as it just gets overlooked or is not visible at all.

With the exclusive section it is easy as people sign up for it.

I am digging to find a solution.

You could just hack the index page code: if forum = adult then last post title = *******

I may be wrong, but think it's more a case that it's not visable at all, so people don't know it's there. Having a bar saying 'Adult Section - click here to access' would solve that.

Might be cos I'm getting old but I don't want to come here and see a load of offensive stuff same as I don't want to see loads of swearing, but that's just me I guess.

I agree that if you have to have an adult section then just a simple link on the home page would look better so we don't have to see things like mygrannystw**.co.uk staring up at us every time we log on :-?

Well, i'm old as well but you cannot shove adult names into a corner, shut the door and only give the key to people who ask for it.

It is a huge part of domaining in the UK, like it or not.

You joined this forum in 2005, how many adult domain posts have you had to read in the general "for sale" forum in the last 2 years? Plenty I presume.

Is it not better that it is now segregated and you do not have to read every adult post as you scan the "for sales". Now you will only see one and if admin finds a hack, you will see none, but please don't bury it by suggesting a lowly link is the way to go.

The adult section has only been made visible to members since lunchtime today, but already there has been 11 new listings and domains sold.

In the general co.uk "for sale" section there has been 9 new listings since lunchtime.

I'm not suggesting removing it, just not inflicting it on us, like it or not.

What I would suggest is to have the adult section just don't show the actual names on the front page. If possible in the last post section have a generic message like 'Enter adult section"

Plus under the domain names for sale section does it have to be first? UK domains for sale should be top as that's what most people are looking for IMHO

I have nothing against these domains, in fact I used to do SEO for several big adult sites until a couple of years ago ;) It's just there is a place for this sort of thing and it should, at least be, one click away.

Paul, if that sounded facetious it was not meant to be.

Admin,
Looks like you have found a happy medium, but is there any chance you can move the adult section up?

At present you have it at the very bottom of the "wanted" section. It would be better served if you could move it above the "Wanted Adverts" as it is a "for sale" forum.

.

OK I have made it its own section:
http://www.acorndomains.co.uk/adult-domain-names.html

If you use the small up arrow to the right it should hide the actual forum / last post so all you see is a heading.

Does it work?

I see no point in that in essence is a total reverse on why Adult section was created in the first place..

If you all recall children visit the forum! Some women and men don't consider it appropriate to be seeing those types of words or at least there should be a choice. No disrespect admin, swear words are no allowed but allowed if in connection with adult seems very odd!

The last thing I want to see splattered across my screen is sp***.org.uk!

olebean, you have to be a member here to see it now, if you haven't registered on this site, which includes confirming your email address, nothing will show.

I don't know about other parents here but any email sent to my 9 year old comes through me.

If you want to hide it, one click and the thread titles are not visible anymore.

For me its good enough.
