I've noticed a difference too actually, I was thinking it was just coincidence. I'd say I've lost roughly 75% this last week.

problem is you can't notify them can you?,i dropped from yesterday which was already in £ so it isn't anything to do with currency....

Just noticed this too. Converted about a week ago to £, been monitoring the figure all week, then today it's gone down by over 20%. F'in robbers, the initial change was a correct $-£ conversion. Try emailing them, no f'in email anywhere on the site!

i don't mean it has fluctuated it has actually gone down from the previous day, say i had £100 total in yesterday it would now be £20 total and i haven't changed anything only from us$ to gbp.

I am having the same problem, yesterday the total in my account was over £100, now it's £91. I think it is because they calculate the earnings based on $USD, then change it to £GBP based on the current exchange rate, hence it will fluctuate - I read this somewhere on Google, but I can't find where.

In which case why bother with a currency change on the account? Also, this is not so much a small fluctuation amounting to a few cents/pence, but a significant cut, percentagewise, in the total.

can anybody find an email address, they go through hundreds of "help pages" and no contact details.......

Fair enough, I didn't check out the exchange rates so it is probably not the main cause, but it will be having some effect.

Suppose it all depends on what the currency the payment is made in when the ad is clicked, and how Google treat the way this currency may be converted.

Probably safe to assume that the when an ad is clicked we're still paid in USD. The question then is how the conversion is handled. Is the conversion rate for each click fixed at time of click, or is the quoted figure in GBP merely a guide until the conversion rate is fixed, probably at time of payment? I suspect the latter, as the former would be far too complex.

Of course, this doesn't explain the big percentage drops seen by some people here, but it does indicate that it's likely that figures in GBP could change over the course of any given month.

That would defeat the purpose of having an adsense account in GBP.

Does that mean I can switch my adwords account currency too when the dollar continues to slide against gbp. Gradual but happening.

It should remain the same over adsense or adwords. If your account is in gbp it should be calculated at time of click, and NOT change with fluctuating currencies.

Why? They take a specific amount from my adwords ballance at the time of click. Potentially they could be saveing two conversions of the advertiser is in GBP already so it is removing complexity - though that does remove two times for the conversion to be in G's favour ;)

I don't see the sense of the idea at all.
At the end of the month, they pay out in dollars into your Paypal account, where (in my case, at least) the balance is maintained in dollars until I transfer it to my bank account.

Displaying the amount in GBP is only leading to confusion as to what is going on.
Considering that the only way to get Adsense advice or information is the Adsense forum, the moderators of which all appear to have been created by the Jim Henson Company, I am making no changes for the present.

Old Adsense always seems to work better than new Adsense ...

Since when has Adsense ever payed out via paypal? I've never seen that option. Back in the day I used to get mailed a cheque in $US, which the bank charged me to deposit. Then G offered the bank deposit in local currency, which I went for and have had ever since.

What is going on here? I have noticed that ads that normaly get over £1 a click are getting about 10p a click now!
