Hi guys,

Just curious to hear what the experienced members here would predict the three names above would go for (individually) to an enduser if they were up for sale today? Having a good look at financial/money related domains at the moment.

Thanks for any replies.

I don't think the rules allow us to discus appraisals/etc of names not our own or have things changed ?

I never really understood that rule. Perhaps it was simply to prevent people posting appraisals of domain names they weren't the registrant of in the appraisal section. However discussing how valuable a domain name might be in general doesn't seem unfair to me.

If you own the domain being discussed, you may not be happy with a public discussion of its value, particularly if the discussion is negative - I would think that would impact ability to sell the domain.

I don't really think Sitefinders will care too much what anyone thinks of their domains!

They've got some very nice domains.

I can't actually find the rules... so I am going to assume we have descended into anarchy
Rough estimates: £7K, £1K and £30K

Appraising someone else's domain is pretty useless in my opinion, you may want to buy it, and appraise it at £10k, but if the owner doesn't want to sell it at that price, then what's the point in appraising it. A domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and what the other is welling to sell it for.

Surely as a domain forum, discussion about domains is a good thing (it's something that's lacking on here at the moment).

People need to stop being so precious. All the 'no comments in sales threads' and 'you can't discuss domains you don't own' is absolutely ridiculous for a discussion forum about domains. It will eventually kill the forum off leaving it a list of unread 'offers invited' threads.

I only remembered the rule because I got spanked long time ago for it :p

I just checked now and it says...

  1. NO APPRAISALS in Sales Threads - do not post your opinion on the value of a domain name is someone else's for sale thread. If you require help with pricing your domain name, either post it for appraisal in the Domain Appraisal Forum or Website Reviews forum. If you require a professional opinion then you can purchase a Premium Domain Appraisal.
Which doesn't seem to apply to this situation, so maybe the rules have been changed of the other one doesn't exist any more. I think it may have been listed in the sticky or actual appraisal header but I don't remember where it were listed.

GBP is one of those names which sounds amazing on the face of it, the letters are ok, but its kinda like having USD, IBM or there is only really 1 well known usage and you'll always be fighting that. USD.co.uk sold not so long ago, I don't recall the price but maybe an indicator, I'd say early x,xxx top end.

We could all be doing better and more useful things than posting here but most are likely here because they wish to discuss domain name related issues. I'm comfortable knowing I'm here primarily for that reason. If I wish to say "I think Mr X overpaid for Y domain name when he purchased it from Mr Z" for example, because I wouldn't have paid as much as he did for reasons A, B and C, is that inappropriate discussion for a domain name forum? :)

It's like [completely inappropriate analogy].

Thanks for the replies people and apologies to anyone who found my request pointless/annoying. These were simply three names that I thought were really cool in the finance sector and wanted to see what people thought they were worth. :)

Yes lets spend our time debating the worth of a domain we don't own and if we're negative let us get sued by the actual owners. Sounds good to me.

The Rule #1
