I'm not a TAG...but spent the last 8 years as a solaris admin.. I'm amaized at how many TAGS run drop catching systems from home PC's & windows based mailing programs and expect to compete??

i would of thought minimum spec would be:
1 big chunky unix server
1 big fat pipe
1 finely tuned script & PGP sendmail sending requests 2 hops away from the DAC ;-)

A bit off the topic ,but I think you are dead right.There are now some real pro's involved and with limitless money to invest. To see how professional some are getting look at the list of Registrars appointed by Eurid.org for the new .eu
Look in particular at the,already mentioned I know but worth another, perosn in Austria and the number of Registrars that he has registered. Now you cannot tell me that he is paying a 10,000 euro deposit on each of those merely to provide a service to the Public, I doubt it.

I am speaking to a guy in Dubai who is interested in investing and if anyone here is able to assist them and you are top level technically then please let me know,

OK so maybe I was overspeccing... how about my old Ultra Sparc 2 with a 2 meg leased line & simple perl script hitting the dac & sending pgp sendmail on drop??

You can see why I'm not a TAG.. ;-) I would be overly obsessed with the kit..

i'm not a tag holder, but i've used similar systems like DAC and OS and programming language should be irrelivent.

i'd say its more about ping times, teqnique and luck.

any decent programming language, on an either windows/linux box is capable of sending upto and more than 500 requests a minute.

I think you'll find it's not how fast you can send queries but how fast you can get them back, process them and send the email which counts
