Was just looking through DomainPrices.co.uk and I noticed that recently CreditCardComparison.co.uk went for £700 and TravelInsuranceQuote.co.uk went for £235.

Do these prices seem ridiculously low to anyone else?

I hoped creditcardcomparison.co.uk would go for a little more, even on a reseller site, but I needed the cash and I'm happy with what I got. It was an SEO company that got it, I'm sure it's worth a lot more to them than 700 squid.

Domainlore doesnt really have much of an audience and in most cases the domains are there to sell, no matter what price they get to. So in other words its not people bidding who actualy planned to have the domain name, but people who are happy to take them because they are bargains...

creditcardcomparison is on the long side and 3 words for dropping into a very competitive sector so i'd have thought £700 wasn't too shabby

Perfect description of domainlore imo :)

They do seem on the low side to me. I certainly wouldn't sell TravelInsuranceQuote.co.uk for £235 if it was mine.

The domain names offer great keywords from an seo point of view and in such a lucrative sector, but sectors don't get much more competitive. You'd need a massive link building campaign, including lots of time and money, to get them up the serps for these terms imo. Also, these long wordy names lack appeal in other respects if considering investment from an end user resale point of view. For these reasons, whilst slightly on the low side, I don't believe the sellers should be too dissappointed. I'm sure there was profit after all.

They were very good deals for the buyers. We bid on creditcardcomparison.co.uk and bowed out just before the end. Buyer did well and well worth the money.

We did win travelinsurancequote.co.uk and it goes well with our extensive insurance portfolio. Haven't been a member of domainlore for long, but seems a nice site and the proprietor communicates well, and no problems with any of our purchases through it.

DomainAngel, not sure if that 'taken the proverbial' remark was directed at me, but it was not my intention to malign DomainLore in any way - in fact, I think it's a great service.

Having said that, those were both really solid domain names, and the sellers got a bargain. I think if the buyers had've spent just a couple of hours sending some emails to potential end users telling them about the auction they would have done significantly better.

It would have been time well spent imo.

I sometimes wish the DomainLore format of auctions was installed on this forum, it would be a cracking way to buy!

If you have a domain worth fortunes, advertise it in the FT, I can get you daft rates, and lets see if it sells.

I'm curious... can you give me more info about FT advertising rates? Thanks.

is it safe to give your mobile number out on this website to register?

there are no contact details so im abit concerned of doin that

What if you don't have a mobile phone? That's why I've never registered at domainlore.

I could use someone else's, but how does a borrowed mobile phone verify anything?

Must be other end users who might bid, but on behalf of a company and don't want their mobile phone being used / misused - domainlore are known in our circle, but with no contact details on the site it doesn't look good to an outsider.
