I know there's lots of speculation with 3D names (particuarly television related) but what are thoughts on...

3dhdtv // co.uk

(have 3dhdtelevision // co.uk too - if having the pair adds any value?)

Samsung and Philips are launching 3D HD TV's and on G this term already has 1,000 local exact searches per month.

I know very much in it's infancy but any thoughts?

I would guess that it's not worth much because every single 3D TV will be an "HD" tv. It's simply not worth the manufacturers' while to add 3D tech to non-HD televisions. So the searches may grow a little, but they're never going to shoot up no matter how popular 3D televisions get, for that reason.

Thanks Edwin.

Will wait to see how this pans out. Manufacturers / retails have already started going for the 3D HD route not because all 3D TVs will be made in high definition - but from a marketing angle it 'sounds' better and more advanced.

Normal consumer walks in to the shop. Two TV's side by side, similar price - one promoted as a 3D TV, the other a 3D High Definition TV - which one would grab the eyes of a normal consumer perhaps unaware that all 3D televisions are high definition.

Some manufacturers are already promoting 3DHD TVs on adwords, my thoughts purely for this reason.

Just the other side of the coin I guess, from a marketing angle.

My thoughts are that it was a great name to pick up if you got it at reg fee. From an affiliate perspective though it will still require a lot of hard work to sell high end TVs from the domain, and the domain itself will be a relatively small factor in the overall contributing factors to making a sale.

Rgds

One thing I would say is that consumers lack of knowledge may lead a lot of people to search for 3d hdtvs rather then just 3dtvs. A website I run is about home entertainment and many people still don't know a great deal about the latest televisions. For example lots of people still don't know the difference between 'hd ready' and 'full hd' despite these tvs being around for years now. That sort of thing might help the site.

Have been doing some research in to this and no, not all 3d tv's will be high definition. There are two versions. One giving you the equivilant of a 720 resolution through glasses and the other - higher spec, different glasses and of course higher price- provides true 3d high definition at a 1080 comparison.

LG have both versions on the market (has anyone seen a demo of these - I was pleasently surprised!) with the full HD equivilant around 50% higher price

Was also quite pleased about Sony's latest ad campaign running on ITV during the World Cup where they are promoting as a 3D HD TV - link:

I havn't noticed that but it's good for your domains, I reckon that after all the hype over HDTVs Sony are cashing in on 3D but by adding HD it helps to make the products look the dogs b*ll*cks :p

Value now, TV name = £100 and television name = £30

It's best you hang on to them though for a while, go all out on getting them ranked now before the high competition sets in.

Good luck

ps. you have contacted Sony right ?
