This article about the Norwegian prison system makes fascinating reading.

Reoffending rates at just 16%, compared to the UK's rate of around 70%.
Maybe we need to get over our obsession with punishing offenders, and actually see what works in making sure people don't reoffend? It goes against one's natural instinct, but if you look at the bigger picture, this kind of thing might be something worth considering?
