How is this looking now? Colour ok? How about the navigation? Anything not working for you?

TIA for anyone that takes a look.

Works well for me. Colours are attractive and site doesn't seem cluttered but still lots of info - must be a few hours work there - I have thought about developing a few geo domains but gathering all that info must be time consuming.

Just one thing I couldn't see was a map. Perhaps I missed it but would be great for anyone thinking of using the car to explore the island. Also some info on public transport, buses etc might help

What's it built in? Looks like WordPress but it isn't

EDIT/added Looks very nice!

fantastic, many hours spent on a cracking site,i would put a drop down on the eating out and pubs and inns like you have with the other links or put google ads on that page so they click out.

Built with Joomla.

Looks good Lee, are you getting much traffic / revenue from this yet?

Rich

P.S. Your poll doesnt give everyone the opurtunity to anwer... You need a 'I'm not going on holiday this year' answer.

would be nice to have some live webcams or links to live webcams from the iow

Thanks for the comments. :)

It is Joomla and is very easy to put together.

I am forcing myself to update it daily, by adding 5/10 new advertisers (which is free) or articles per day.

UVs are now up to an average of 400 per day.

Revenue is small at the moment. My business model will only make money from advertisments after Jan 1st 2010 as I have offered spaces free until then to kick things off.

Im glad that no-one mentioned the speed of the site, im convinced its taking ages to load. :D

it looks very nice, seems a little slow loading sometimes - might just be my connection though.

you just need some more advertisers it seems. I've set up quite a few sites like this and you need to get the critical mass before it snowballs - hoteliers & bnb owners are a bit sceptical about websites these days, go in at £19 to £39 ish for 12month listing and it will soon fill up..

£36 a year. Cant argue with that.

I tried free listings initially but ironically I found that by having no value and people didn't seem to value it so they didn't pay. Also I found that £19 was perhaps too cheap and had better response with £39 probably for the same reason!!

I took a look and your right about the loading speed. The initial link in from the browser address bar was very slow, though moving around the site from the links on the top drop down menu was better except when clicking back to the home page, when again loading was noticably slower. I also got a "Done, but with errors on page" message on the homepage, but not on any others.
I'm on I.E. browser with XPsp2 and recently had a slow loading problem with the ebay search which corrected itself when I enabled my "windows updates". There must be some code in there somewhere, maybe to an external site that could be causing the problem, or my windows is at fault and needs further updates or tweaking. Is the server itself experiencing any problems?

Regarding the site itself, I was very impressed with the appearance, layout and content spread. Plenty of information, pictures, and excellent navigation. It can only get better and better.

Great site - hard to fault it. I see the community section takes you to a registration page. I think it is better to show the forum instead and make them register before posting.
