Facebook marketing director Randi Zuckerberg (sister of the site’s founder Mark) has spoken out this week about online anonymity and its contribution to cyberbullying.
Speaking at a panel discussion on social media, she commented on the trend for online bullies to use nicknames when targeting their victims. "I think people hide behind anonymity and they feel like they can say whatever they want behind closed doors,” she said, suggesting that putting an end to online anonymity could reduce the amount of harassment that takes place on the web.
