Wanted: Website Review Which of these do you prefer for travel sites ?

Hi All,

It's about time I got on with padding out some of my many travel / geo mini-sites so I'm after some feedback about which theme to use.

Out of a couple of more established sites I have which layout / theme do you prefer ?

1) Maldives Bargains


2) Playa Dorada (Dom Rep)

I prefer working with the first one since the theme is very well coded and customisations are easier, I do have a feeling though that the second one performs better.

Any thoughts ?

I prefer the second one for no other reason than it looks visually brighter
and more like a holiday site.
The first one looks a bit staid

They both look well done second does look a bit brighter can you not just tweak the css a bit to get it looking similar

I think the way forward will be more edits to the first one to get people more in the holiday mood

Since I like the look /layout of the second one more but much prefer working with the first one.

I think just changing the background on the first one would make a big difference. Also, I'd probably change the font because you see it all on all generic templates/WP themes. Nice sites though.

I prefer the first one. More modern and user friendly.

Gut feeling is telling me the second one could be made to convert better as it's simpler and clearer, but split testing could be used to confirm this (if you can be bothered!!)

Actually prefer the colours etc on the first one, but the wordpress magazine style of the 2nd site.

Prefer the first one.
It needs one more colour as a kind of highlight colour.
Or use a photo in the banner at the head of the page

I have now added a background picture to number 1) in an attempt to bring out the holiday feeling. I hope it's not too distracting.

I prefer the 2nd one as well, I use the same theme on several sites I'm working on, it's a nice theme to work with.

Can you help me out as you have done a couple of things that I can't figure out how to change.

How do you change that to show your site name instead?

Also, how do you set a background image on that 2nd theme, all I could do was add a small pixel image so that it repeats across and down the page to make it look a single colour, but would rather use an image like you have, but when I tried adding an image, it's just repeated itself multiple times on the background.
