That's my question. Where do drop lists come from?

Are they automatically generated by machine or does a human get involved.

Thanks in advance

A drop list is just a list of domains & dates so can be made anyway you want, however, I'd suggest some form of automation due to the volume of names involved.

What I would like to know is how to best manage drop lists? :)

How do you mean "manage"?

I have a large word list that gets run through on "spare" DAC cycles at the end of each day's catch cycle. I presume most others do something similar.

Let's say you run a list of domains through your DAC and find there are for example 1000 expired or near expiry in that batch. Is there a simple way of exporting that from Nominet?

It may sound an obvious question once I have the DAC available, but my Nominet TAG was only approved this morning so have just paid for membership and quite keen to get scanning lists when it's approved :)

Thanks!

Read the Nominet documents for the DAC :)

You stuff in a name and it responds with a reply, you just capture the output and do with it as you please (in accordance with the T&C's of course!). Easiest option is of course to write a bit of code in your favourite language to do this for you and you can then sort and review the output.
