Firefox all looks tasty.

One quick thing, on the right hand side you have direct links out - which are good to get users to products quickly however depending on how you market the site it could be used as reason to punish you in the rankings.

One thing to look into is a redirect.php style passing of url with a no follow set for the link itself - ought to keep naughty googlebots at bay :)

Rob dude you will have to explain further - gone right over my head that one!!!

And your pic on the left - did I not see that at Wrexham FC in the past?!

Looks good in Opera 9.02 too. I'm not sure about have Casino though, you wouldn't normally see that on a financial quote site.

All the best

Basically if google spots known affiliate links on a site it knows its an affiliate site and google is not overly keen on them. It is possible to hide the links so google cannot spot them :)

As for the flag... yes! I am guessing by the name you are a cestrian for your sins ;)

Reminds me - really need to restore ChesterCity.co.uk to its former glory :)

The best way to do what Rob is suggesting is this: (well it's the way I do it:) )

1. Create a sub folder on your server.
2. Leave this folder empty except for an .htaccess file
3. Ban all search engines from indexing the new folder
4. Point all the affiliate links on your site to nonexistent pages in this folder
5. Tell the .htaccess file to redirect traffic going to these nonexistent pages to your affiliate links.

Lets say your new sub folder is called partners and two of the links you want redirected are AA Loans & CapitalOne Loans

Ban the search engines from your new sub folder using your robots.txt file, to do this add the following to your robots.txt file:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /partners/

then add this to your .htaccess file:

Code:
Redirect 302 /partners/AALoans.html http://www2.smart-quotes.com/click.asp?mid=416&ctc=1322&lnk=76&brn=793&src=1594&cmpg=&web=&s=N&sn=AALoanBan1
Redirect 302 /partners/CapitalOneLoans.html http://www2.smart-quotes.com/click.asp?mid=794&ctc=1322&lnk=254&brn=793&src=1594&cmpg=&web=&s=N&sn=Cap1LNban2

Then replace all the affiliate links on your site going to AA Loans & CapitalOne Loans with the new links AALoans.html & CapitalOneLoans.html

The .httaccess file will recognise that someone is trying to go to these nonexistent pages and will redirect to the proper affiliate link and Google etc will not be able to see what's happening :)

Nice idea.

though I wouldn't think you'd need to ban any robots other than google?

Just asking really.

-aqls-

Ban em all :) No reason to advertise you are an affiliate site :cool:

Nice one people :) I have forwarded the link for this thread to the webmaster of the site, I like the idea of hiding the fact its an affiliate site.

Just got to work out now how I can get High PR links, my site at the moment has a PR of zero!

Cheers

Matt

Sorry to drag up on old thread, this subject is being talked about in a recent thread.

The method above seems quite complicated. Would the following method work?

Point affilliate link 1 to: /partners/link1.html

link1.html:
Code:
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://www.afilliate1.com">
</head>
<body>
</body>
</html>

Would this method work just as well?
