How do you value a generic domain name?

How would you estimate the value of a generic .co.uk that gets a 135 uniques a month on Sedo and the following link info?

I would think it would vary so much depending on the generic term or word. 135 hits is'nt a great deal.

Agree.

Much depends on the generic term, and also the likelihood of finding an interested end user. This can really up the value of a generic.

Mike.

The minimum submission on Sedo is £5k yet it has been registered for several years (and he's not found a seller) the generic is more likely to be of interest to an individual in business rather than a large organisation therefore although it is quite a good domain if you are in that business you are not likely to be able to afford to pay big company money.

Are you buying or selling? 135 is not a huge amount , however depends what you want the name for :)

i want to buy Rob, don't think this ones yours for a change, it isn't going to make me a millionaire so i'm bolloxed if i am going to fork out a lot for it. If he doesn't want to sell there are serveral non generic names for it. i just think £5-800 is is more realistic than 5k

Thats the problem with domains, even if its dfsdfgdagfda.me.uk the owner can name their price and if they are unrealistic prices then not alot you can do about it :(

Stating the obvious I know... but just agreeing with position, either pay over the odds or go for a different one... I would choose the latter ;)

or send him/her an email by their whois details and avoid sedo altogether.

He can only say no, and your path is clear zorro.

better still, give him a call.

You're right he can only say no. I had a phone call from which I could hear a call centre in the backgound. No chance am I selling to them, especially as he claimed to be a new to the internet and liked the name.

LOL, can't blame you.

No it's just little old me and i simply want to develop it, i had thought of calling him but there is no obvious contact on the whois. i will be probably just plump for a longer (but similar) name that is available.
