Hi all,

I have been lurking for a while, and got a useful contact from the site in Azooza to help me with my desire to move into .co.uk dropping, so thanks for that.

I have about 300 .coms and 100 .co.uks, mainly parked with Sedo. But I also have a few forum sites up and running like selfbuild.com. I have a couple of niche subject areas I specialise in for catching domains, so I am not in competition with the LLL.com crowd. Still, I see some of the domains at Pool and Snapnames go for ridiculus sums - amati.com went for over $3000 a couple of weeks ago - you have to ask why?

The majority of my domains are caught, but I also have bought quite a few through negotiation, and I have two up for sale at TRAFFIC East this year.

My best and worst domains?

Prize for the dumbest catch was probably labled.com which looks like the correct spelling, but is not (vs. labelled) - took me a few months to realise that though. Not quite sute what possessed me to buy xxmc.com last week either.

Best: I registered some 3 letter .coms in 1997 when there were still 1000s free. Unfortunately, only 10. My mates said (and I quote) "you'll never make your money back". Of course I should have bought 100 or 1000 - hindsight is a wonderful thing! 5 have gone and i still have 5.

Best caught .com is a suprise - gruble.com - which gets about 2000 visitors a month and produces a nice flow of beer money. But what does it mean?!

In .co.uk, I was fortunate enough to buy dvd.co.uk from the administrator after the previous owner went belly up when the dot com bubble burst. Ran it an an affiliate for a while, then bit the bullet and developed a website there which I'm happy to say is still going strong to this day!

Anyway, I look forward to some friendly competition with you guys!

PS I am in the market for any premium retail type .co.uk domains. They need to have type-in traffic, example something like teddybears.co.uk.

Another PS - Do any of you guys travel to any of the domain cons e.g. TRAFFIC?

Cheers,
Paul.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :)

dvd.co.uk - Nice name! - Make sure you sell it off before Bluray or HDDVD starts to take over the world though!

Rich :)

welcome dude, nice intro.
your avatar is haunting me though lol
i know i'm not the best looking either ;)

Hi pmdpmd,

Welcome aboard mate, from myself I think you'll find friendly and not so much competition (I'm the guy that was exstatic when propertyabroard.co.uk was available and registered it, to this day I'm still having probs spelling 'abroad').
