Clickatell Bulk SMS Gateway I'm using them for 3 different projects right now. They are the most reliable out of the few that I've tried. And for the techy stuff connecting php to their api - I was fairly new when I started with sms gateways but it was simple to get hooked up - depending on your project.

Just another one to suggest, Orange recently (last week I think) announced that they are commercialising their SMS API:

I use webtext.com. Website looks basic, but the service is awesome.
