Swaps Area

I think it would be a good idea to not only have sales on the site but also an area where users can offer domains for exchange or swap for other domains being offered on site.

What does anyone else think?

Nice idea but needs to be thought out a bit more. Just listing a load of domain and letting people make swap offers isn't going to work. I can see it now:

Person 1: Available for swap internet.co.uk

Person 2: I'll swap this-domain-is-cool.me.uk for internet.co.uk

Exactly, anyone listing a domain for swap will be inundated with people offering to swap crap. You only have to look at the wanted section to see that people dont even bother reading the requirements, they just desperately post any old rubbish!

I only wanted to create an area to swap instead of sell.

yeah i was thinking about this a while ago.

tried to think of a system where people could enter names into a system of domains they wanted to swap...

they could then flag up all the names they want on the site.

and if there is ever a match both users get an email (kind like dating for domains) even bought a domain name (domainnameexchange.co.uk) -> no site on it admin :mrgreen:

BUT i could not think of a clever enough way for it to work (and how to keep all the crap off the site... might give it a re-think one day ..... :???:

3 Strikes Rule

Maybe the key is selective membership.

There are many forums that operate a 3 strikes and you're out rule.

Unfortunately I seem to have inadvertantly had strike one on Acorndomains.. but I guess that is why there are 3 chances to allow for beginners error.

I can add a swaps forum here but I feel there will be a few bun fights so not sure how it would work.

Maybe to start with just post in the Wanted section, with SWAP at the start of the thread title followed by the domain name.

Any further comments?
