All appraisals appreciated, have recently received some offers for both (StudentBooks.com has been appraised here a while back but thought I'd throw it back in and LondonStudent.co.uk is a developed site)

how come people appraise crappycrapee.cp and ignore StudentBooks.com and LondonStudent.co.uk?

They are hard to appraise...

I really like studentbooks for a site for the new wave of downloadable and virtual textbooks. I'd look for comapnies getting in to that as potential buyers. I just can't figure out a value - undeveloped its a touch awkward because aren't student books called textbooks? That said, I like it and think it could certainly sell some day for a profit greater than a few years' reg fees.

... I certainly hope that my profit will be more than a few reg fees!

In fact I spent a lot (for me) on this one in an auction, but have already had some pretty decent offers through Sedo and direct.

To put it in perspective, I have received a bunch of offers for 1k, 2k and 2 offers at 5k. Recently though I received an offer much higher and so am trying to get a grasp on this names value.

Of course I'm bias but I really like this name - lots of potential - on a global scale whicg the .co.uk's obviously can't pull... plus there are the other developed sites with studentbooksblank.com or similar in them that put a minimum value on this domain.

Other opinions appreciated

Sorry - its one of those things that gets lost when you type rather than speak - I meant the comment about reg fees as an understatement. Its a nice domain and in .com. That said, if its 5k pounds (10K in US), I'd take it.

I got what you meant (about understatement )

my 2 offers of 5k were dollars - so at the moment thats less than £3k

my latest offer is much more tempting - just stuck between developing and selling... I have so many domains that I want to develop but not enough time (or skill for that matter )

Student Books (dot com)

Would be a massive earner if developed and used as either an affiliate book shop or a drop shipping book store.

Potentially if done properly you could make a million in sales alone, if you can get the traffic I think you could easily do that in less than five years, probaly within two years.

London Student

Would be a massive earner but take more time for development, but you could set up a website that caters for all aspects of students in London from accomodation to cooking recipes and books.

You could charge landlords for advertising properties.

Again the potential could be huge if you have the development time and costs.

Thanks Maverick and Mark - you've cheered me up for the day!

My problem is that most of the time I'm just the ideas person and not the doer!

LondonStudent.co.uk is already developed and there are lots of features (based on vbulletin - same as acorn) plus other add ons such as a text service.

I think that studentbooks.com has a lot of potential just need to take the time and learn some skills and figure out the best way to monetise.

I have just moved a bunch of my domains to hostgator so I can develop each without breaking the bank - just LondonStudent.co.uk's traffic might cripple it then would have to go for a dedicated server - does anyone have any tips on where to find a good deal?
