A spam and phishing report from security software firm Symantec has found that online junk mail, commonly known as spam, is at its lowest level since November 2008.
The report reveals that there has been a huge 82% drop in spam over the last 12 months. The decrease has been attributed to the successful shutdown of the Rustock botnet, which had been responsible for as many as half of all global spam messages, and also the closure of a pharmaceutical spam advertising site called spammit.com.
