i have started off 2011 not that bad that is I have not regged many names and some could be developed (resolution)

but when I look at some of the rubbish I have I do wonder what ever got into me - was it drink, madness or a bit of both take these two as examples

0000000.co.uk - i still don't know why - ok its all numbers but noone would ever type this in, and I even renewed it even though it got no traffic!! WHY!

paywindow.co.uk - i was coming over the severn bridge back into Wales just before Christmas and then when i got home - i saw it on teh drops and thought why not - but again no idea what I can do with it - another one to sell off cheap or let go..

I have hundreds more - that any sane business person would think what an idiot.. but as still a domain hobbyist i think ahh i will sell one in a few months that will cover my costs for all the crap!

have you got names that you thought were a seed of genius - then after the reg you thought what a fool - or is it just me

ta

I generally write the names down that I'm interested in registering then have a think and come back to them. When looking back at a few of them it does make me wonder what was I thinking but provides relief that they weren't registered :D

Downside is that they will sometimes have gone already by the time you check them back over... :-?

I don't think you'll find many domainers that haven't bought something that perhaps they shouldn't at least at some point in their careers. They might not admit it, of course, though. ;)

I've long since given up counting, but I'm certain I must have dropped 3,000+ domain names over the last 15 years that seemed like a good idea at registration time.

I'm sure the owner of onedirection.co.uk felt he had wasted his money on that lol

When it drops today he is bound to pick up a newspaper and think arrgghhh

Good to see not eveyone follows xfactor :D

That is an unbelievable drop, surely this guy must have heard of them somewhere along the line

Could renew last second maybe ?

Years ago I thought polishyourteeth.co.uk was ace to sell to dentist lol

I did let a decent one go thinking it was crap supercasinobet.com :(

it will be dropped again before next renewal as they will be history by then
i think it's pretty safe to say

cheers guys - glad its just not me

but iam following the rule that if after 2 years it has not at least doubled it regfee or been developed them - will drop or sell off cheap -

but cmon flasher.org.uk is free to reg -- no no no I will stop!

let 188 go on tuesday, deleted all record of them so that I can't keep going back and checking if they've been registered and then thinking oh crap!

good to know though I've saved myself roughly £1100 on reg fees, that kinda makes up for it!

This post has made me remember …
Someone once said to me (many years ago) if you don’t make mistakes, you’re not working hard enough!
(n.b the comment didn’t relate to domains, it was many years before the internet).

Your domain: paywindow.co.uk could have its merits. My gut instinct has some positive thoughts on this one.

I was thinking that like an escrow service or some shopping checkout service but would take some big finance company to purchase :|

Yes i have made a few daft reg's before. I too go through the process of sometimes thinking up something that sounds great at the time or even see something that drops andlook back on it wondering what i saw in it.

I do try to be nore harsh now and leave any that i have doubts about. Then il usually come back the next day and register it anyway!

Ive been ooooing and aaaaaing abouting regging curedmeat and curedmeats.co.uk for months now and this thread just made me go ahead and do it.)

Seems like a decent couple of handreg names! Nice one :)

I remember a member on here saying that they only ever hold 11 domains (or thereabouts) at any one time and that this was doing well for them. Might consider this strategy if I start afresh as it will prevent me from buying rubbish domains.

I have some rubbish - don't we all? - but I'm finding that links from the "aged" rubbish can boost the standing of the new rubbish in search results.

I once read that the man who never made a mistake couldn't do anything, so he didn't bother trying ...
