Who can register a .ASIA domain name?

The most important requirement to register a .ASIA domain is that at least one of the contacts indicated in the registration -whether a person or a firm- is resident in Asia.

The .ASIA Authority has decided to include Australia and New Zealand as part of this geographic region.

Is there going to be a Sunrise Period?
Yes, there will be a Sunrise Period, and it will be divided into three phases.

Sunrise 1 - Dedicated to Public Bodies.

Sunrise 2 - Dedicated to registered trademark owners.

Sunrise 3 - For firms wishing to register a domain corresponding to their corporate name.

What will happen after the Sunrise Period?
After the Sunrise Period, all applicants fulfilling the main requirement (local contact) will be eligible to register a .ASIA domain name.

When is each phase going to start?

Sunrise 1 7 September 2007
Sunrise 2 7 October 2007
Sunrise 3 7 November 2007
Landrush 8 February 2008
Go Live March 2008

Most of it wont be worth bothering about being honest

Things like casino.asia and a lot of high value domains will be snapped up instantly just leaving the chaff for the birds too peck at.

Asia is obviously a very big market but unless there is ways of making money then buying something that you would buy as a co.uk would be pretty pointless.

Would be nice if you could get some of the very top domain names like travel.asia as they would probaly be worth a fortune to the right person.
