I have a Iphone and am thinking about getting an ipad.

Whats it like worth the money?

Im not sure it would get used much to be honest

But i hear its really nice to surf the web on.

Had a look at one myself, but for the money a laptop and an iPod Touch seem to do a better job for less. I think if you're an Apple addict it makes the difference, but otherwise a lot of money to surf the net.

Games - get a psp, music -too big, reading books - battery life / screen brightness a problem.

Bigger screen lets you watch movies and surf the net, but then again so do laptops.

Anyone got one who can see what I'm not?

I think if apple released chocolate teapots they would sell well.

I have never owned an apple product, not even an ipod!....

Not convinced on the iPad yet personally... did used to be a bit skeptical of Apple products and put off buying an iPhone for a while, but now I've had one for the past six months or so I think it's been one of my best purchases :D

Join the club! Macs (and anything Apple) are useful only for real design pros. I don't like all this fuss about iThingies. If I want a mobile phone, I buy it from a company that does mostly mobile phones, etc. Well, for things on the move +battery life my good old Dell Axim fits the bill.

Got myself a 64GB 3G iPad on the UK release date. Have owned an iPhone since it's original US launch, and that has been revolutionary. The iPad is essentially a big iPhone in terms of functionality, it's screen means it's great for watching movies and browsing and being a slim tablet it is very portable. All that said, being a big iPhone means it lacks the versatility of a laptop.

I'm taking it on holiday tomorrow but I'll be taking my laptop too. I think it's a great piece of kit for the living room table, a long haul flight or the commute to work but I can't help but think I should have spent a little more for a Macbook Air instead.

Hey boxerdog LOL, love the picture, love your avatar as well I have a boxer dog myself. Yeah I think the ipad probably will be successful partly because apple have decided they will. That said I am not saying it’s a bad product, these pad type computers may well be the thing of the future perhaps that is just the destiny of mobile computing and in many ways they are pretty cool, at the moment we are still pretty keen on our laptops, but in a few years time we may all have an ipad, epad, or whatever version other manufactures produce of their own, most probably using the word pad, it is a better word for them than slate or tablet, we don’t want old people getting confused and putting them on their roofs or little kids trying to swallow them. They will have to get a bit more powerful but that will happen, pads, slates, tablets, whatever you call them are still in their infancy they will get a lot more powerful and will come down in price, they will also get even thinner and lighter. In a few years time I would not be surprised if you see all kinds of people walking about with them for either personal or business purposes, a bit like holding a clip board working away doing god knows what, which isn’t something you could do with a laptop and smart phones might be a bit too small to comfortably use or see what you are doing for the likes of most. So any way although apple probably could sell chocolate tea pots, they are one of the few companies that have really mastered the brand loyalty thing, they are more like a cult than a company, I am not saying that pads or tablets are chocolate tea pots, they could be a big part of the future of mobile computing, so while their success isn’t certain, I certainly wouldn’t write them off, given time I think they have a pretty good chance of succeeding in one form or another. Anyway I am starting to prattle and maybe talking gonads so I will short wift shut my trap.

it seems too small to be useful for anything other than casual use, but too big to fit in a pocket, so what do you do with it when you are not surfing / posing? (other than leave it lying about as a status symbol). As for watching films on it, I use the High def TV, far better :)

I'm not a fan, but I guess they'll sell millions despite the fact that we are in a recession and nobody has any money :)

Can you use it as a phone or do you still need your iphone as well?

Not really essentially an iPhone - an iPad doesn't do phone calls for starters! :p

My iPad is on order and iPhone 4 will be ordered on the 15th.
Such a fanboi

Lol, yeah I think we all have our favourite brands, I usually go for the brands that give you the most for your money, never mind the quality feel the width like that old comedy show was called, although that was a bit before my time, my last two laptops have been Acer, I find they give you quite a lot of bang for your buck. I would probably go for some cheap and nasty epad type rip off as long as it gave a good amount of memory and processing power for the money, man I am so cheap! LOL
