Hi, please bear with me - I'm new here.

I'm interested in bagging 3 .co.uk domain names which expire at the end of this month.

I've read some threads here and have got pointers to service providers that seem to be popular (e.g. caught).

My question is: do I have to do anything about these domains now (or around their expiry) or do I have to wait until a point sometime in the future??

Apologies again for my ignorance, thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Mate,

Yes as soon as you see them go suspended you should book them at www.caught.co.uk so go there now and create an account, then there is a tab which says "back oreder" and run your desired names through that, if it shows a box with a tick then you can back order it,

As i said book as soon as you see them sus..

The best answer is "It depends"

If the names are likely to be in demand, then you may find that waiting will allow others to book slots with the public drop catchers and you'll not get a look in. If the names have little or no value, then you may be able to catch them yourself by doing a whois lookup a couple of times an hour on the day of drop.

If you really want these names, then you could take a punt on contacting the current registrant and asking if they are required, you may be able to take control immediately (or they may realise that they have not been renewed you'll loose out).

Lots of different approaches, all have equal value, which you choose depends on the name and the value to you.

Thanks for your quick responses.

I'll head over to caught and set up an account.

The domains in question are all owned by a company which is in liquidation. I have contacted Nominet and they are happy to transfer the domains as long as the written agreement of the liquidator is obtained.

I've contacted the liquidators but they either don't have a clue what I'm on about, or are just stalling me.

I hope knowone on here with fat fingers misstypes you your username!!
