Notice that when you're not logged in it says you can't see signatures unless you're a registered member and done 20 posts. Why??

Won't this also affect google picking up links put in signatures which some members want for seo?

Google is a member I believe :)

Anyhow, and it amazes me everyday, why on earth would you want your website on a signature for seo purposes???

Yes you put it on to attract domainers to it if needs be, but not for seo.

A straightforward link on a links page, yes, but having your domain populated on a forum only takes traffic away from you in the long run.

Stick to strict reciprical link building :)

Only my opinion of course :p

Blimey. Your seo is stuck in the 1990's!

You don't want links on links pages, you don't want to stick to strict reciprocal link building and signature links are useful in someways!

I was going to say that for Google anyway forum links work very well for SEO

What in it for me

Most will ask themseleves 'whats in it for me'....if one is motivated to post in return for links then such a move can be detrimental to the forum.

I once bought a forum and as soon as I started to impose similar rules they left and the forum was dead.

I can see a competitor coming if such a decision is not reversed.

I dont think it is that much of an issue, if anything it is positive as it stops users signing up then posting 20 rubbish filled posts just to get a sig link.

Personally I see my sig as space to let people know who I am and pass on any important messages - such as highlighting the amazing plight of the national dish of chips, which is becoming increasingly sidelined by the need for 'salad' and avocado based products.

I never knew this had been implemented. Please admin, let us have our signatures back!

I didn't want to start a new thread on signatures so I thought I'd ask here if there's something I need to do to have my own signature displayed?

Phil

I see, I was under the impression it was a 20 post rule.
Thanks

Phil

Good way to keep a healthy forum indeed...
I've been on other forum where there is no rules and they end abandonned, full of spams...
