Sedo's new 'Offer Details' page

Hi Everyone,

Many of you will have now seen this new feature on our site, and you will also have received an e-mail about this. Of particular interest to you might be the Activity Indices:

- Seller's Activity Index on a scale of 1-5. The Seller Activity Index considers a member's transaction history and sales volume for transactions where the member was a seller.

- Buyer's Activity Index on a scale of 1-5. The Buyer Activity Index considers a member's transaction history and sales volume for transactions where the member was a buyer. The Buyer Activity Index, VAT status, and the month and year the buyer created an account will be available to a seller once negotiations begin.

I would like to make it very clear that if a seller/buyer has a low rating, IT DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN THEY HAVE A BAD HISTORY, it might mean that they simply haven't used Sedo recently (or at all). If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact me or Customer Service.

Pretty annoying, you can't pretend to be a lowly buyer and make lowball offers any more if your history is going to give you away as a big spender! Is there an opt-out planned?

I can also see it being used to bypass Sedo.

It will only take a few domainers to start building a database of contact info based on the buyer/seller info as can't be too many buyers for example who are:-

1. UK based
2. VAT registered
3. joined Sedo August 2004
4. have a 5 star rating

Agree, we need an opt-out option.

This info could also be used against you in UDRP/DRS. Not happy as it is now, not one bit. And that's coming from a longtime Sedo member with a 4 star rating.

Doesn't seem to have been thought out very well.

To use stars to rate a seller or buyer - when they are not related to quality, but quantity - is a big mistake. There is also no clue as to how one qualifies for each star rating.

Instead of activity and how much they're buying or selling they shoyld just have a trading option, e.g how many deals didn't go through.

Hi Folks,

After the initial Offer Details Page launch in August, our members had several suggestions for how to improve the page. We reviewed the page performance and took their comments into consideration and are pleased to share the newly added features:

A change to the Activity Index is that it now includes a new image and data for up to a year of transactions, which will improve most members’ Activity Index level. Remember, the Activity Index is not a ranking system. Rather it’s a way for other members to gauge the seller’s sales activity in the past twelve months in Sedo’s marketplace.

The link to analyse a domain’s search engine rankings has been returned to the offer page within the Domain Statistics section and has been renamed “Ranking Report.” (It had been removed while our partner UrlTrends was updating their offerings.) By clicking on the link, you can view the domain’s search engine ranking, Alexa ranking, and number of incoming links.

Additionally, due to customer requests and because the listing age doesn’t necessarily correlate with a domain’s value, the date a domain was added to a member’s account will no longer be listed on the offer page.
