Sedo regularly introduce new pricing and new rules without letting the member know.

Latest method. After the name has been successfully transferred to the buyer sedo said.

Request sent to buyer to confirm if transfer is complete

We have sent a request to the buyer to confirm within the next 10 days if the transfer as well as the owner change have been completed correctly, and if they have full control of the domain.
If we don't receive a reply from the buyer within 10 days, we will be able to close the transaction and release your payment.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

thanks for info - don't like the sound of that

Escrow work in the same manner prior to releasing payments to the seller(s) .e.g They ask the buyer to confirm receipt prior to releasing the funds to the seller, from memory 3 days (then transaction automatically completes). Asking the seller to wait 10 days for confirmation from the buyer imo is purely a tactic to keep monies in the bank longer ;)

If the buyer responds with a negative then the seller doesn't have his name and sedo have the money. Seems like a potential lose lose to me. They keep moving the goal posts and it takes longer and longer to complete a transaction . Alarm bells ? maybe.

Its best to mix it up i wouldnt park anything at sedo i would try all platforms and see which ones you like we use them all i just list with buy now on sedo and we get great results and sales they have been good to us but yes things keep changing.

My feelings at the moment are that the method of escrow is no longer a trusted method for the seller. If you come across a spiteful buyer who says they have not got control of the domain, then you don't get paid. It doesn't seem like a service that a seller should pay for, you end up with no name and no money.

Hmm why don't sedo get the domain from the buyer, the money from the seller, and when they have both give them out? Genius.

You would have a double Nominet transfer charge, other than that it does seem the only way. The current situation is almost laughable if it were not true.

Well considering their ridiculous uk fees they could factor it in. Basically they don't want to incur any expenses for their 'service'. Also this only applies to uk domains which I should imagine is a small part of their market.

When Ive had this problem I just mention that Im going to email the new registrant and tell them a DRS will be issued in the next 48hrs for recovery of the domain as Sedo have not paid.
Ive been paid every time!

So solved a problem that should not have developed in the first place and for which you pay a fee to avoid.

Im shocked with the lack of service from sedo i am dealing with one at the moment support is rubbish take days to reply and the buyer wont confirm so just have to keep chasing not really want you want to do once you have had a sale

Wasn't there a sedo 'rep' member of this forum?

Yes i added him above but never replies i have emailed no reply i did speak to another person at sedo but nothing gets done.

Its so painfully slow on sedo limited support no decent live chat really lets it down could be so much better

Everything about Sedo is painful. They are amateurs with 20 years experience.

Yes that's true but we get many decent sales via there platform we never park there but we do get good sales.

Just annoying you pay 15% for a poor service

I gave them $25k for one commission payment years ago. They made one phone call. I spoke to the person afterwards - they went straight in and offered my maximum budget. No haggling. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Easy money which clearly they don't ever intend to spend on service. I will be glad when they go bust.
