Aren't Laywer, Solicitor, Barrister all different things ? like Barrister does the court thing, Lawyer does caselaw stuff and solictor general stuff ?
I don't know for sure, but last big case, I had like 4 different types and Solicitor and Barrister i'm 99% sure was both listed, so maybe lawyer is another type ?
Trivial I know, but a lawyer would incorporate both a barrister and solicitor. The main distinction is between a barrister and solicitor.
Lawyer is used in the UK - examples include Lawyer 2b (Lawyer2B - Guide to a Career in Law) which is a major magazine for students wanting to be lawyers - the word lawyer is used here for example to cover both solicitor and barrister
