Sedo is switching to JavaScript for its Domain Parking pages from the 1st November.

I assume this will mean that the Search Engines will not be able to read the content the same way and therefore any SE ranking will disappear.

Thoughts?

Google reads javascript write just as normal text. Shouldn't effect ranking. The bot even looks into the javascript for links and references. People dont give google enough credit :)

10 hours after the switch over and not one click on any names in my portfolio, would previously have at least 70 by now.

Shows that they must have had huge problems with spiders and bots before.

Don't panic - the Sedo email said:

"You will notice some changes to the parking statistics in your Sedo account:

- You will very likely see less Uniques (Views)
- As bot clicks will be better filtered out, this may also result in fewer counted clicks on some of your domains
- Parking statistics for November 1, 2010 will be reported on November 2. Real time reporting will resume on November 2, 2010."

Thanks for the update Stephen

We'll wait til tomorrow then - I'm hoping revenue increases - after all ppc income can't get much lower - can it?

Yes thanks for the update, did not notice that detail in their email.

Is it just me, or is the "My Domains" section broken?

I'm getting a "No Parking DB" error and have been all morning...

Many domainers are going to be upset that the bot traffic will be shut out because now they can't produce stats from sedo that say their domain is receiving all kinds of visitors to help enhance their sale... I always see sales on other forums in the 'domains with traffic' area that show sedo stats and once the purchase has gone through, the buyers complain... "where is all this traffic you claimed?!"

Ultimately, this is a good thing. Your clicks should be more valuable in the long run. I'm not affected by this because for the most part the only domains I park are the ones not getting traffic anyways. I prefer not to share my ad revenue with parking companies as well as google (adsense).

Parked domain incredible increase in traffic

Innocent customer has his account disabled !!! Please help if you can!

Around the period of the change to Java I had a huge increase in visitors to one of my parked domains.. You can view the logs on Alexa.com ..see the graph for that period of time.. The name of the domain is meterbid (dotcom) See the huge spike and I got about 20,000 visitors in a couple of days. All I did was point to their DNS.

This was nothing to do with me but it ended up that I had my account suspended by them.. why?--- I am being told that I am using artificial means to inflate traffic. Anyone ever heard of this kind of problem?

Is there anyone here who is technical enough to explain why simply pointing a parked domain to their DNS servers can get you 20,000 visitors in a few days? ... and then pointing away from their servers brings traffic back to normal..lol.. almost zero!
A couple of days ago (since my account is now suspended) I stopped pointing my domain to their servers and pointed it back to my Network Solutions hosting package to see if I was still experiencing this incredible surge of web traffic to the domain. NOPE!.. almost no-one is going to that domain now that it is pointing to NS.

From 20,000 visitors to nothing in a day

Today is Nov. 6th 2010

Dear Joanna Birch at Sedo.

Please Note: I pointed back to Network Solutions and away from Sedo DNS on the 3rd..

Please go to Alexa and now see the stats graph for traffic. Notice that if you see the graph for the past few ways (select the last 7 days) that the traffic zooms down.. check your logs and see that this is when the domain was pointed away from their servers? The domain is (meterbid dotcom)
. See the graph zooms up around the time of the implementation of the Java script for Google Adsense.. but it zooms down when I pointed DNS away from them..
When we see incidents like this, is it not correct for anyone with a investigative nature to assume that the problem could be associated with the updates?

Is anyone else been experiencing these massive increase in stats by parking their domain on their servers?

I am replying openly in the blog because I did what you asked and sent you my login name but no-one has bothered to reply to me from Sedo. The only email I got was from a tech guy who asked me personally to explain how the traffic increased. I don't know how it increased and so in order to answer his question can someone please help me to know what I should be telling them because this beyond my experience??

Thanks

RE: AROUND THE SEDO UPDATE PERIOD

Dear Admin and anyone who is interested. Please take a close look at something incredibly strange which Sedo have not yet given me an answer to. Their reaction to this event was to disable my account with them but I want to pursue this matter. The stats increase you see are when I had the domain pointing to their primary DNS1 and 2.

Please take a look at the spike in traffic (in the thousands) during and around the time of the update
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/meterbid.com

The spike returns to zero visitors when the domain points away from their DNS servers and back to a default Network Solutions account.
They should be able to check DNS records and see that what I am saying is a fact. I wonder if anyone will even bother?

Has this happened to others?

Hi Phil

I have emailed you.

Joanna

Thanks Joanna

Joanna,

I have received your email and am glad someone is looking into the matter
