I am trying to finish a sale for a .uk domain via Sedo;

aparrently the buyer has paid and all I need to do is transfer the domain

1. I don't know the TAG to transfer to.
2. I don't know where to send the transfer forms
3. [email protected] doesn't seem to know either and no longer replies to any emails relating to the transaction

Anyone from Sedo able to assist

I've read the sticky post about this, but surely Sedo should have a better clue as to what is happening.

I will provide the domain name to a Sedo contact if requested

Not wishing to totally hijack the thread - but I have two outstanding purchases:

Shopping.org.uk (paid 2nd May)
SteveIrwin.co.uk (paid 28th May)

Both lacking updates / forms / transfer progress.

Sods law as I was recently asked about domaining and mentioned how Sedo have the knack of losing sales and I was not 100% convinced the Shopping.org.uk transfer would go through.

I am quite willing to chase these up away from Sedo - I am guessing they would be happy to cover costs incurred?! :)

Any else waiting on any Sedo transactions?

Hi everyone,
Thanks for letting me know - you'll hear from your transfer agent(s) today.
Best wishes,
Nora

Hello Richard,

Could you please send a mail to the e-mail address below and tell me which domain it is please?

I apologise to all of you experiencing delays with .uk transfers, and promise you that your transfer agents are doing everything they can to complete the transfers as quickly as possible.

The problem we (and our customers) face with these transfers is that we are reliant on both parties carrying out their obligations swiftly. For example, if one of you pays for a .uk domain, the seller has to fill in his or her sections of the Nominet forms and send them to you. We do everything we can to push the seller along, but we cannot do it for him. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this or have more information.

Thanks,

Shaun

Hi Everyone,

While we're on the subject (and at the risk of sounding like I'm ranting), I know a lot of you buy or sell domains through your companies. If you do that, please make sure there is someone who can take care of the process if you have to go away on business or on holiday. It happens a lot that people enter into a transaction with us and then, after a month, tell us that they haven't completed the forms because they were away for the whole time. This is obviously unfair to the other party involved in the transaction.

I hope your all enjoying your weekend, with better weather than we're having here in Germany!

Shaun

Just an update on the two:

Shopping.org.uk (paid 2nd May)
- No forms , no nothing. May, June and now July passing with Sedo holding the cash and the seller 'having problems with forms'.

SteveIrwin.co.uk (paid 28th May)
Transfer made, however TAG changed not actioned as requested. Transaction set as 'concluded' in sedo control panel.

:(

Obviously not entirely Sedos fault, however I am guessing if the cash is not released a TAG change would happen quicker.

Likewise if there was a reputation feedback I would be able to publically warn people about buying from the owner of Shopping.org.uk .

Here is hoping I am not posting in a further three months time...

Cheers,
Rob.

The new Nominet transfer form asks the new registrant which tag they require - so assuming they've been able to get that far it should improve that final piece of the jigsaw.

The first domain was on the old style transfer forms, as for the second, I am not sure what is going on with that.

As you say, going forward it ought to speed things up in some cases yet slow it in others.

Hi Shaun,

When i receive a message from Sedo that payment has been received for a .co.uk domain on the 16th of Juli and send in the necessary documents from my end i find it odd that my transfer agent is unable to make a direct call to the buyer to wrap things up.

Today a reminder email has been send (to speed things up) as my transfer agent told me and when i mentioned if it would not be possible to give the buyer a direct call i was told that after a reminder has been send the buyer is allowed to have 7 days to respond.

So from now i have to wait 7 days if the buyer doesn't return the forms before a new contact will be established to complete this transfer and get things into gear.

I really can't understand this Sedo policy, i understand transfer agents have protocols to follow but this type of protocol is just silly in my opinion.
On top of that the buyer is a partner of Sedo.com so this is even more mind boggling.

As a seller i feel compelled to make the transfer as smoothly and quick as possible to conclude everything in a appropriate manor.
And i do everything i can to act accordingly to accomplish this.

We are now at August 2nd and nothing is being done to actually get things done because of such a silly protocol in place, the need to wait for 7 days before a transfer agent is allowed to place a call.

In my situation when you look at the dates involved i find this very disappointing.

Common guys (Sedo) allow your transfer agents to make a call to buyers or sellers.
A call should have been made now but now it's being delayed even more!

From a business point of view i couldn't live with that, to keep buyers or sellers waiting so long, that counts for buyers and sellers that causes delays in not filling the forms needed but also for Sedo not acting up more appropriately to speed things up.

A little less email and a little more personal contact ;)

That would solve a lot of unnecessary delays that are and have been occurring with .co.uk domains.

Thanks for adding my 2 cents!

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

Can you PM me the name of the domain please?

We normally give the buyer seven days to respond, but if you asked specifically for your transfer agent to give them a call, he or she should have done it. I will bring this up with whoever the agent was (although I'll look stupid if it's actually my transfer now, won't I?):)

Best regards,

Shaun

Further to this an update:

SteveIrwin.co.uk
- transfer concluded sucessfully.

Shopping.org.uk (paid 2nd May)
- No forms , no nothing. May, June and now July passing with Sedo holding the cash and the seller 'having problems with forms'.

Just now I have had this outlook notification:

To: someoneatsedo
Cc: domainowner
Subject: RE: Payment for shopping.org.uk Received
Sent: 30/05/2007 14:54

was read on 07/08/2007 19:43.

wow :)

I would imagine that after a certain time period, the contract held with sedo would expire. I for one would not be interested in waiting several months :(

True - I do intend to follow this up, mainly as I mentioned I did not have much faith in the Sedo processes any more and had a couple of emails regarding it. I said in that article I was buying Shopping.org.uk - 'if the transaction goes through'.

Sedo do not seem to be that bothered about this user - they are aware that he is making excuses to not move the name over and complete the sale, yet leave other names he owns on the Sedo parking system.

I did notify Sedo a couple of weeks ago Also after a quick nose around there are a few other names that seem to be mashing up Sedo pages eg. http://www.blind-d8.de/ http://www.topaktuell.net/ etc - is that against your terms of service?

Which going by todays wonderful notification means they may act some point in October...

Hi Rob,

This is one of the cases which seems to come up with .uk domains more than any other tld. Your Sedo transfer agent has been working really hard in every possible way to get the seller to send the forms to us or to you, to no avail. You are perfectly right in being annoyed with this, but please be aware this is not Sedo's system of transferring .uk domains, but Nominet's. I will speak again to your transfer agent about this - you would of course be well within your rights to cancel this transfer and get your money back.

Interestingly, I personally finished a .uk transfer a couple of weeks ago that started in November of last year. Out of the blue, the buyer sent the forms on about the twentieth reminder. Weird as this seems, these things do happen, which is why we never cancel an open transfer such as this without the permission of the 'innocent party'.

Rob (or anyone else), feel free to give me a call about this if you want to discuss it.

Regards,

Shaun
