Scanner drivers for Win 7 (64 bit) ??

Last-post for a while - I've used up more that my quota.

But I'd really appreciate any advice on the following problem regarding a Canon Scanner drivers - i have spent a couple of hours on the forums looking for a solution, but, to no avail.

We all know (and i'm just finding out) it takes a month or so to tweak a new PC laptop just the way you like it. tried to scan a document But "No drivers installed" message and it wont accept any 32 bit version i currently have

I know it requires a Twain Driver but that dosen't seem possible in the 64 bit version of windows. If anybody can suggest a generic and free fix -I'd appreciate it.

They are cheap bits of kit and I'll go and buy a new one if i have to but, my canon is only a few years old (I don't have the "32 bit Emulation" thats available in Windows 7Pro)

Cheers Chris - That's a coincidence. I've just been playing around with VueScan @hamricks. It's great app worked first-time and man do I like it,

But $79 for the pro (which I would prefer to have) or $38 for the basic.

Just annoying that Canon aren't updating their drivers to 64 bit for anything older than 2 years - I won't be buying their products again. Cheeky bastards.

Is it possible to buy vuescan at a discount or via paypal ?do you know of cheers Chris

Not entirely sure but always worth a search for "discount" or "oem", sites like http://www.cheapsoftseller.com/products/buy-vuescan-9-oem-discount.html always read the terms

Thanks mate - i can see why it gets 5 stars from all the pro reviewers. I have to go for the $79 version. Just annoying that thats half way in money to a brand-new scanner with all the software.

Added - Thanks It is only $19 on that site you linked so thats a purchase then - shame they don't offer the pro version at half price
