Do most bids in Sedo result in ridiculous counter offers or am I just being unlucky?

It depends on the domain name and your inital offer :)

Nice generic and offering £50 might get a 999,999 reply!

It also works the other way, I have 3 -- 4 figure offers all just ignored and expired which is just as annoying.

LLL.Net with low uv, I offer mid $xxx to try and open discussions knowing true value is high $xxx to low $xxxx get back a £50,000 counter offer. Domains like it drop and auction on Snapnames every day for $800-850 and I mean every day.

Why?

a) they do not want to sell
b) they have no understanding of the value of what they have and think $50k is reasonable
c) they have no understanding of the value of what they have and think my offer was insulting

or d) hope you are desperate for the name and might pay over the odds

or e) Know that you are probably coming in below your top offer thus counter big and wait for you to adjust upwards.

:D i appreciate they want my offer upped but surely $49k is nuts, what would they ask for the .com

this is just an example too, I've had about 6 this weekend. maybe the sellers are happy to have them sit on Sedo forever :???:

Domain prices have been consistantly going up so there is no incentive to sell at current market value to fellow domainers :)

there's a batch of 4 on dnf at minute for $3800, he'll take an offer too i'd guess, if you're after that kind of thing (not mine btw )

Had an offer today for a LLL.co.uk domain of $60

Went back with a £x,xxx counter offer.

They replied with $100 and "This is my final offer".

Jokers, cancelled negotiations.

I particularly like the 'Justify your asking price' replies, maybe SEDO can provide sellers with a 'Tell me your budget' option when replying to bids:D

yes thats a good idea, come on sedo add it :)

I personally find it irritating to receive $30 dollar offers on domains that make that a day or even week. So I just send back a huge counter offer as a message that says "f%ck you buddy, you are either 1) A retard or 2) Think I am". Since there is not an option that allows a text response.
