Well it seems that most of you enjoyed the reverse auction, congrats to the buyers!

What was good and what was bad about the reverse auction format?

What would you suggest should/could be done differently?

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Mo, I thought it was very entertaining and a welcome change from the usual format. You might want to add a link to these to a 'current price at this second' script, which also shows a clock ticking down. Just for those like me that can't be arsed to work it out :D

They seem to have produced a hell of a lot of interest. It's been quite refreshing, but think it can only really work for good quality domains where there is plenty of interest and competition.

I've been wondering what your thoughts on the reverse auctions were. Did the domains go quicker or more slowly than expected? ie. Are you happy with the final sale price?

I agree with azooza that a script showing a live countdown would be a great idea - would seem to add some interactivity.

Whats interesting is that as a market mechanism, while a normal auction seems to rely on the principle of greed and desire. This seems to work on the fear that someone will place the single winning bid before you.

Correct section

Shouldn't this thread be in another section and not sales section, maybe put in domain research or something ?

Mods input please.

I was actually thinking of making a Ajax countdown script for acorn users will keep you posted.

I just reg'ed countdown.org.uk (recent drop missed, I believe)

Will try and something working on here in the next week

Dale, a good idea and would be really helpful. Unfortunately I am a technical retard!

While obviously I would have liked them to sell for more, both names sold within the price range that I expected them to.

You can go and register ReverseDomainAuction/s.co.uk as well :)

There is always that fear that the name will sell for less than anticipated. I did consider altering the incremental values so that there is a built in reserve price at the end of the auction time frame. Kind of takes away a bit of the thrill though IMO
